Man arrested after posing as store mannequin to steal jewelry

What an odd way to get away with stealing...

Polish police said they had arrested a 22-year-old man who posed as a store mannequin in order to later steal jewelry at a Warsaw shopping center.  

After entering a clothing store, the man "put on a new outfit, then stood still in the window like a mannequin in order to fool security guards and surveillance cameras," said Robert Szumiata, a spokesman for Warsaw police.

After closing time, the man slipped out and managed to swipe jewelry from a stand at the shopping center. 

"We'd never seen anything like it," Szumiata told AFP.

According to Fox News, police said the man came back to the establishment "for round two," but "ate his fill" first before stealing some clothes.

His luck, however, "ran out" when the mall's security guards noticed.

Charged with theft and burglary, the man faces 10 years in prison. (AFP)
