LRT-2, MRT-3 offer free rides for Araw ng Kagitingan
In honor of the 82nd Anniversary of Araw ng Kagitingan, Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) are offering free rides for passengers.
The companies announced free rides for passengers and veterans on April 9 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Jorjette B. Aquino, Transport Assistant Secretary for Railways at MRT-3 Officer-in-Charge, said that MRT 3 is in solidarity in commemorating brave Filipinos who sacrificed their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.
“Ang libreng sakay po na ito ay bilang pasasalamat at pagkilala para sa kanilang lahat na patuloy na nagmamalasakit at nagbibigay-serbisyo sa kapwa para sa ikauunlad ng ating bayan,” she said.
LRT 2 operates between Antipolo and Recto stations. The first train departs from both stations at 5 a.m. The last train leaves Recto Station at 9:30 p.m., while the last train departs from Antipolo Station at 9 p.m.
Prior to this announcement, both train managements announced free rides for veterans and their one companion in honor of Philippine Veterans Week from April 5 to 11. Veteran passengers just need to present their valid Philippine Veterans ID to avail of the free ride.
