Manny Pacquiao shares challenge of posing for historic Madame Tussauds wax figure

Turns out, even for a decorated boxing champ, a sitting session for a wax figure replica could still be quite a chore.

In an interview with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, Sen. Manny Pacquiao said that keeping still while in a boxing pose during the six-hour session was no mean feat.

“It’s not easy,” Pacquiao said in an online interview with Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

Pacquiao shared that the sitting took six hours as the Madame Tussauds took a very detailed study of his features.

“I didn't know that it took a lot of work to measure someone for this wax figure. I guess that’s what makes them so realistic. It was an unforgettable experience,” shared Pacquiao.

But though the sitting took a bit of work, Pacquiao said that it was a great experience working with the team.

“The Madame Tussauds team made it very fun. They were friendly and they helped me throughout so I was at ease the whole time,” Pacquiao said.

The 41-year-old 8-division boxing champion said his inclusion in the museum is “an honor and a pleasure.”

“It was a different way to represent my country,” said Pacquiao.

“I am thrilled to be in such distinguished company,” Pacquiao added.

Madame Tussauds announced in December 2019 the addition of Pacquiao to their wax museum gallery composed of various cultural and political A-listers. Pacquiao’s figure is historic as being the first Filipino male to join the Madame Tussauds gallery.

The Pacquiao figure was initially slated to be unveiled this year, but the museum has yet to update or specify a date.

“The Philippines continues to be one of our strongest markets and having Manny Pacquaio who is known globally for his achievements in sports is an honour for us. He is one personality that the attraction has been wanting to have and we cannot wait for the Filipino fans to see the figure in 2020,” Madame Tussauds Hong Kong Senior Marketing Manager BoBo Yu then said in a statement.
