PH's Alyssa Marie Redondo named Miss Intercontinental 2024 Second runner-up
The Philippines has sustained its decade-long winning streak in the Miss Intercontinental pageant after Alyssa Marie Redondo was hailed the second runner-up of this year's pageant.
At the 2024 competition held in Egypt on Dec. 7, Redondo bagged various awards including Best in Swimsuit and the Power of Beauty Special award, which fast-tracked her to the Final 7.
On Instagram, the 23-year-old vocational nurse from California expressed her gratitude to those who have been part of her journey, especially for the "priceless friendship" she received from her pageant sisters worldwide.
"Earning the title of Miss Intercontinental 2024 2nd Runner-Up is an incredible achievement, especially as my first international competition! I truly hope I’ve represented my country well," Redondo said.
She also thanked the Mutya ng Pilipinas organization, designer Chico Estiva, and her creative team, among others.
"I’m beyond grateful for the support I’ve received throughout this journey. Each and every person on my team and all of my supporters are the reason I’ve come this far."
Meanwhile, Puerto Rico’s Maria Cepero is this year's titleholder. Candidates from Venezuela, Vietnam, Germany, and the USA were hailed as runners-up.
Two Filipinas have previously won the Miss Intercontinental crown: Karen Gallman (2018) and Cinderella Faye Obeñita (2021).
