LOOK: Imee Marcos' inauguration gown is adorned with gifts from late father, Ferdinand Marcos Sr.
Senator Imee Marcos wore a Rem Divino piece that paid homage to her late father during the inauguration of her brother Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.
In a post from her official Instagram account, the senator shared that she came up with the design for the aqua blue gown.
Dubbed as a "sustainable opulent Filipiniana", the one-shoulder gown's left sleeve features an-all gold design embellished with restored lockets, chains, and pendants given by former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. to his daughter.
Imee also wore a collection of bracelets and a similarly gold-embellished facemask to match the ensemble.
"Our beautiful Ate. Giving meaning to Imelda Jr," TV anchor Daphne Oseña Paez commented on the senator's post with a heart emoji.
Director Darryl Yap, who has been working with the Marcoses, also gave tribute to the "poetic and sentimental" gown through a Facebook post: "A Muse with a Museum in her sleeves. standing-out while sitting in the National Museum," Darryl wrote.
In a separate post, Yap shared a phone call conversation wherein Imee said she would be bringing her late father to the event "in my arms."
Yap is helming a Viva Films movie titled Maid In Malacañang about the Marcos family starring Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, and more.
After the inauguration, Imee shared more snaps showcasing the outfit.
In one post, she posted a tribute to her father, whom she said is the reason behind everything.
She said: "I brought my father in the inauguration, after all, siya naman ang dahilan ng lahat ng ito, he escorted me, he is in my arms..."
In terms of crafting his gowns, Divino shared back in 2020: "I observe costume designers’ techniques when creating a piece.”
"I am also keen to notice their choice of embellishments. I take mental notes on the visuals then invest time in my workplace to determine the process of how to achieve the same effect," the designer added.
Meanwhile, President Marcos Jr. wore a barong made my local designer Pepito Albert during his inauguration held at the National Museum. Marcos Jr.'s outfit was inspired by the rayadillo, the traditional uniform of soldiers during the Spanish occupation.
