Singer Jovit Baldivino dies at 29
Filipino singer Jovit Baldivino passed away due to aneurysm. He was 29.
Jovit's family confirmed his death in a statement through Jerry Telan, his former handler in Star Magic, MJ Felipe of ABS-CBN News reported. His brother Gil also previously confirmed his passing.
"Our dearest Jovit Baldivino joined our Creator 4:00 AM today December 9, 2022. He was 29," the family said.
His parents Larry and Cristeta Baldivino, and fiancée Camille Ann Miguel said Jovit was recuperating for a week with hypertension maintenance medicines.
A family friend, then, invited him at an event. His doctors advised him not to sing while recuperating.
"Knowing Bundoy (Jovit), he gave in to clamor of the crowd," the statement shared by Felipe read. Jovit sang three signature songs, but was already gasping for breath on the third one.
"After an hour while sitting, his face was deformed with flowing salivas," according to the statement, during which he was rushed to the nearest hospital, the Nazareth of Jesus Hospital, last Dec. 3 at around 10 p.m.
A CT scan showed a blood clot in his brain, a sign of aneurysm, and he was in comatose for five days, Jovit's family said.
Meanwhile, Camille also shared a photo of them together, with the caption, "ASAWA KO," along with crying emojis.
Camille also wrote another post lamenting the situation. "ANONG SAMA NG PAPASKO MO SMEN."
Last Dec. 6, she called out netizens spreading rumors about Jovit's medical condition in social media.
"Sa Lhat po ng nag Popost sa asawa ko siguraduhin nyong tama ang post nyo at d kau nakakatulong lalo nyo pinalalala d kau nakakatulong matuto kau humingi ng permission..wag nyo pong palalain ang sitwasyon nya!!!!!!makapag post lng kau...prayers po ang kailangan nmn d ang maling post nyo!"
Fellow singer Limuel Llanes, meanwhile, on Dec. 8 asked the public for help, saying Jovit was suffering from hemorrhagic mild stroke last Dec 4.
"He went through successful operation and trying to fight his life under coma," Limuel wrote at the time.
Jovit rose to fame when he joined the first season of Pilipinas Got Talent, inspiring the judges and the public with his life story as a working student who sold siomai. He further inspired them with his raspy and powerful vocals, eventually becoming the grand prize winner.
His renditions of Journey's Faithfully, Rockstar's Ika’y Mahal Pa Rin, Renee Dela Rosa's Pusong Bato, and Queen's Too Much Love Will Kill You, among others, have been hits.
Jovit's last public appearance was in an episode of reality game show Family Feud just a few days ago.
