Imagine finding sewing needles in your food…

A young employee at a Pennsylvania supermarket has been accused of inserting sewing needles into food products, nearly causing harm to some shoppers.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, the needles were discovered in several grocery staples, including vegetables, bread rolls, tuna, and cupcakes. "Further investigation has revealed the items that have been affected are bagged vegetables and individual Tastykake packaging."

Authorities called on those who bought products from Giant at Lower Macungie Township in Lehigh County within the period of April 13 to 19 to “check the purchased items for any tampering.”

Local media said that members of the grocery store’s rewards program have been contacted one by one to see which of them were affected by the incident.

“A juvenile suspect has been identified and charges are forthcoming,” police said, urging those who have more information about what happened to get in touch with their criminal investigation unit as soon as possible.
