Over 600 runners join Eastwood City's first Earth Hour Eco Sprint

Eastwood City, the entertainment hub of Quezon City, demonstrated its commitment to environmental conservation by hosting a remarkable Earth Hour event last Mar. 23. The highlight of the event was the first-ever Eastwood City Eco Sprint, which drew over 600 enthusiastic runners from all corners of the metro, led by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte.

The Eco Sprint was a three-kilometer fun run for participants of all ages, encouraging runners to embrace an active lifestyle while raising awareness about environmental conservation. A special one-kilometer fun run was also organized for beloved pets, continuing the township’s commitment to pet-friendliness while emphasizing the importance of caring for the planet and all its inhabitants.

Belmonte lent her support to the cause by joining the vibrant crowd in the spirited run. The mayor also endorsed Eastwood City’s initiatives during her opening remarks, reiterating her focus on advancing sustainability efforts for the year 2024.

Joining Belmonte was the head of the sustainability council of Alliance Global, Inc.,  Arnie Batac. A leading advocate for environmental stewardship, Batac also shared his inspiring insights on sustainable living and encouraged participants to take proactive steps toward reducing their carbon footprint.

Mayor Belmonte and Batac also took center stage to lead the ceremonial shutting off of the lights, signifying Eastwood City's participation in the global movement of Earth Hour.
