Libreng sakay: Workers to get free LRT-2, MRT-3 rides on May 1
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced that workers can avail of free rides at the LRT-2 and MRT-3 transit lines on May 1 in celebration of Labor Day.
Free rides are scheduled between 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for both the LRT-2 and MRT-3.
To avail of the limited offer, commuters aged 18 and above must present their company ID or government-issued ID, according to Transportation Assistant Secretary for Railways Jorjette Aquino.
Aquino said their department understands the importance of Filipinos' hard work and dedication to the country's growth and development, "especially during these challenging times."
"We hope that this small gesture of ours will bring joy and ease to your day. We thank you for your continued efforts and contributions to our nation. Let us celebrate Labor Day with pride and gratitude for all workers in the Philippines," Aquino said in a statement.
The DOTr said it offered the free rides upon the request of Labor Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma to Transportation Secretary Jaime J. Bautista.
This was “to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of the hardworking Filipino workers across the country.”
The Labor Secretary noted that a significant number of workers are expected to attend and participate in Metro Manila-based Labor Day activities.
“This gesture will not only ease the financial burden of the workers but will importantly recognize their significant contributions to nation-building and national development," Laguesma concluded.
