20K MARK: PH records another all-time high of 22,366 new COVID-19 cases
The Philippines has recorded another all-time high of 22,366 new confirmed COVID-19 cases today, Aug. 30, per the Department of Health (DOH).
This is the first time that the country’s single-day record has surpassed the 20,000 mark, as the last record was held at 18,332 cases.
The news comes after the UP Octa Research Group forecasted on Saturday, Aug. 28, that the country is set to hit a peak of over 20,000 single-day cases within the week.
Per DOH, 95.7% of active cases are mild, 1.7% are asymptomatic, 1.1% are severe, 0.97% are moderate, and 0.6% are critical. The country’s Delta variant cases have also risen to 1,789 as of Sunday, Aug. 29,
Metro Manila has been placed under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) until Sept. 8.
With today’s numbers, the country’s total number of COVID-19 cases is at 1,976,202. There are currently 148,594 total active cases and 33,330 recorded deaths.
