Your relationship guide in the Year of the Ox

With the Lunar New Year taking place on Valentine’s Day weekend, love is definitely in the air. It’s on the minds of many. But is it in the stars? Not for everyone, according to feng shui master Marites Allen.

However, things will get hot and steamy, and many will be seeing red—be it in the form of angry outbursts, infidelity, or a surge of desire and newborn babies, too. Perusing Marites’ forecast, be mindful of the Northwest and Southwest sector of your home. Those represent the Father and the Mother, and in the year of the Metal Ox, they’re afflicted with the Robbery and Argument stars, respectively, explaining the romance dynamic in 2021.

Some will be lucky in love, while some will be better off focusing on other things—and that might be just what you need. There’s a right time for everything.

Rat

“Your heart is in the right place in 2021.”

Single? Because the Rat is the Ox’s secret friend, Marites says, “There is a very high chance of you finding great love this year.” Single Rats can still have fun while keeping an eye out for true love. You can even meet your life partner in an unexpected place. But you might reel in the wrong person. “Some will want to take advantage of your trust and devotion but you will always see through their act.” Your ideal partner is born in the year of Ox, Dragon, or Monkey. Dating? Marites warns, “You should not bother pushing your love luck with a toxic person, because then it would mean endless fights with no hope for reconciliation.” Married? If you’ve been thinking about welcoming a new member into your family, Marites says now is the time. She also suggests that married couples enhance the North sector of their home with some love and relationship emblems. Ox

“Those Ox-born anticipating a better relationship luck could experience love in 2021.”

Single? Be ready to mingle! There will be invitations or matchmaking by friends and family. Say yes—and then follow your instincts. “Don’t be misled by physical appearances. The Ox, a naturally devoted lover, will often fall prey to contenders who are interested in taking advantage of (them) for material gain instead of a genuine relationship.” Take note of this and you might just share “a life of comfort and good health” with the right partner. As an extra precaution, Marites recommends hanging a painting or figurines of mandarin ducks in the Southwest corner of your bedroom. Married? “Since the Metal Ox will be successful in areas such as work, business, family, and other relationships, it would be a great time to seize opportunities. Being a parent this year would certainly be a good idea for the Ox father or mother.” You also might find that your other half isn’t doing their share, such as home chores or financial obligations. Tiger

“Love will take center stage in your life.”

Single? This is the year to take it slow. Courtship in this way will be rewarding. Dating? It’s the perfect time to move to the next step. “However, do not rush your decision to settle down considering that you will be also faced with other important decisions,” says Marites. “But also let your partner know how much you appreciate them.” Marites suggests wearing or displaying emblems of your allies, the Horse, Dog, and Tiger in the Northeast.  Married? Engage in activities that will bring the family closer, have fun, and make them feel secure. Stars, they’re just like you: Singer Shawn Mendes is in a relationship with singer and señorita partner Camilla Cabello, born in the year of the Ox, since 2019.

Rabbit

“The ball will be in your court because the Rabbit’s main obstacle is isolation.”

Single? The Rabbit tends to be naive when it comes to matters of the heart. This makes you easy prey to ill-meaning people. “The five elements of Chinese astrology and feng shui, as well as the metal element of this Ox year, will affect your love life.” This year, your instincts will tell you when a potential love interest fancies you. But if something feels off, listen to your gut feel. Fancy someone? “You need to summon courage because when you find love, it will be pleasant.” Dating? If you’re done playing and want to make it long-term, “nothing will stop you in the Year of the Metal Ox.” Whether you’re single or married... Marites suggests activating the East sector of your bedroom with Double Happiness and mystic knot symbols to ignite sparks in your love life. Dragon

“Love for the Dragon could come with many challenges if not properly managed this 2021.”

Single? For those still looking around, Marites says, “You will find yourself drawn to young lovers probably because you feel they will be more agreeable and submissive. It won’t all be bad because romance could be hot. You will share great moments with him or her while the relationship lasts.” Dating? It won’t take a lot to trigger your anger this year, and you might take it out on the one you are dating. If you’re trying to sustain a long-term relationship, be patient. For an extra boost, Marites recommends protecting the Southwest corner of your bedroom with amethyst geode or a mandarin ducks painting. Married? If things have been stable in the past year, it will be the same this year. “Your spouse will appreciate you and your marriage will be stronger than ever,” says Marites. “However, if couples had problems in the previous year that followed into the new year, it would be chaotic for them still. The couple may grow distant from each other and love could weaken.” In this case, you must take the lead in keeping the union strong. Snake

“This year could be great for the Snake in love.”

Single? You might’ve been feeling like no one gets your unique personality. Not this year, according to Marites: “There is a chance to meet your life partner who will appreciate your energy.” Even shy types will get the attention of their love interest. You might even have to choose a partner. Marites recommends a romance luck activator and Double Happiness amulet to enlighten you. Dating? Snakes have the tendency to coil around their loved ones. Marites advises, “You need to not to be too controlling of your love interest because it will make them want to quickly leave you.” Married? Marites has good news: “All the disagreements and the conflicts that caused you and your partner to be distant will be resolved. It will be a happy reunion. The year 2021 will be a time to make new beginnings and let go of past hurts. Horse

“It is important to show special romantic gestures.”

Single? You’re feeling good, you’re ready to take risks—you’re ready to date, so do it. “Even when things don’t work out with your love pursuits, that should not affect your happiness,” says Marites. “There will be times when you will become too choosy, but even when you fail in pursuing a love interest, you should not feel any regret; instead, try to look for another likely candidate. Dating? “The year of the Ox may provide the fun and adventure the Horse needs to share with his or her lover.” Married? “If you are one of those who are not expressive with their affections, this is something you have to work on.” Try installing peony-inspired paintings in the South or Southwest sector of your bedroom or a pair of mandarin ducks. Sheep/Goat

“The conflict for those born in the Year of the Sheep will extend to romantic relationships.”

Single? Avoid rushing into a relationship this year. Marites explains, “Some love interests may come to deceive. Don’t be surprised if you find one who will take off his wedding ring, pretending to be single. Your love interest may also be the target of a rival suitor. However, do not get yourself into a complicated situation that will cause you unrest. Remember that you want a faithful partner. Enhance the Southwest with images of love birds, heart shapes, or the Double Happiness symbol.” Dating? You’re probably seeing someone with qualities that used to put you off, but now find so attractive. “It will only cause you temporary excitement,” says Marites. For those whose relationship is on the rocks, “It is better to steer clear of the love and romance path for now.” Married? “This time will bring a lot of drama and unpredictable events,” says Marites. “You will nurse secret desires but will be unable to act on them. Monkey

“The Monkey in love will desire freedom but will be willing to sacrifice it for love.”

Single? “You love to have fun, and people easily notice when you walk into a room. The atmosphere changes with your aura, and you can use this to your advantage,” Marites says. “You will need a partner who can match your energy. If you compromise on these qualities, you will likely become depressed if entangled with a boring partner.” It’s tempting to go on an elaborate outing this year, but consider going on a simple date first, and see if you can connect with your love interest through conversation.

Dating or married? “You need to agree with your partner to avoid conflict. You can only work through your marriage by compromise when need be. You should avoid making promises you can’t keep. Mystic knot or Double Happiness-inspired accessories will help you achieve a loving atmosphere.”

Dating? “If you have been in a noncommittal relationship, don’t kid yourself that a commitment will happen. Well, it’s not too late to get out there and find a suitor that will be ready to tie the knot soon. It would be best to drop the dead weight you have been carrying around and explore other possibilities. It isn’t all the time that you come by this opportunity. Wear peony shawls or display a peony-inspired charm in the Southwest. A pair of mandarin ducks will also help you find an interesting partner.”

Married? “With a supportive partner, you should expect things to remain stable in your relationship. You will find yourself having to make some sacrifices, but it shouldn’t be too hard to do for the one you love.” Stars, they’re just like you: Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez, who is engaged to former pro baseball player Alex “A-Rod” Rodriguez, who is a Rabbit.

Dog

“Decisions will be made about relationships.”

Single? You’re adventurous, and that big adventure this year is finding love, but don’t get too excited. “The energies of the Yin Metal will draw many romantic relationships your way, but this will be short-lived. You shouldn’t get carried away because not all of them may be in your best interests.”

Dating? “You may have been burned by past love partners, but now is the time to put away your anxieties.”Whether you’re single, dating, or married... “Try to keep a pair of mandarin ducks or an image of the mystic knot in the Southwest section of your bedroom.”

You might be having sexual escapades during the first part of the lunar year, but in the latter half, you will be thinking about a serious relationship. “But this may not work out,” says Marites. “In fact, it would be better to remain single in 2021 and focus on other things. The instability may lead you to enter into a bad relationship if you eventually force yourself to find a lover. Wrap yourself with the mystic knot shawl or mantra protections.” If it doesn’t work out, you’ll pull yourself together, like you always have.

Dating or married? “You may seek out a romantic vacation where you can spend quality time with your partner. This change of environment will favor you because it will help you strengthen your relationship and reignite the flames.” “The Boar must remember not to use hurtful words on his partner that will leave wounds enough to hurt the marriage. If the couple has been dealing with a misunderstanding in the previous year, there are chances that the marriage will lead to a sad breakup.”
