Philippines dominates Pornhub as third most frequent visitor, top female user base
The Philippines was the third most frequent visitor of Pornhub this year, according to the pornography website's 2024 Year in Review.
Yet the country's ranking apparently indicated a decline in its interest in X-rated material, as it came second place in 2023. The United States remained the top Pornhub visitor, followed by France. The site's statisticians observed a "tiny margin" between the two countries, theorizing that it could have been due to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Philippines dropped from the top spot to 14th in annual porn consumption, with average viewing time decreasing from 11 minutes and 15 seconds to 9 minutes and 1 second.
In fact, this year's global average was down -29 seconds.
Nevertheless, the Philippines remained a consistent consumer of porn, being among the countries on top of the charts.
The Philippines contributed the most phone traffic, with 97% of Pornhub visits via mobile. Mexico came next with 96%, followed by Egypt and Colombia at 95%.
In terms of female visitors, the Philippines has been on top for four years now, with 59% of traffic coming from them. It's a 1% increase from 2023. Argentina's females came next with 51% and Colombia 49%.
The word "Pinay" rose in the most searched terms ranking, placing third in 2024. It was the fifth spot last year. Locally, it was the most searched term followed by "Pinoy," showing that Filipinos love their own. It was followed by "Japanese," "hentai," and "anime," indicating fondness for Japan's adult content.
In fact, the Philippines' top Pornhub categories were "Hentai," "Japanese," and "Reality."
Reality, or porn that focuses on the story more than the sex, was viewed +642% more in the Philippines than elsewhere in the world. It was followed by Hentai, or anime porn, with +465%, and Korean with +278%.
The country's trending searches were "beautiful sex" with a +668% increase, followed by “extreme squirting” with +623%, and “hot asian big tits” with +520%.
The Philippines's favorite pornstars were Americans Lexi Lore (first) and Johnny Sins (second). It was followed by the Filipino model Sharinami.
In terms of visitor demographics, the Philippines has 45% of visitors aged 18 to 24; followed by 25 to 34 (28%); 35 to 44 (11%); and 65 and up (8%).
Trends that defined 2024
The report also showed trends, top search terms, and favorite categories that defined the year.
The 2024 Paris Olympics ignited passions beyond the athletic field. “Summer Olympics, anything that is front and center in our culture will be on our minds and therefore tends to be sexualized,” said Dr. Laurie Betito.
"Sex Olympics" and "nude Olympics" were the most searched terms, followed by significant increases in searches for "athlete," "gymnastics," "swimmer," and "volleyball."
On the other hand, viral videos and phrases also influenced people's search habits. With the popularity of the phrase "Very demure, very mindful," search for related content that showed authentic and "more meaningful" material rose.
"As a society, we’re moving away from the original performative nature of adult entertainment,” said Dakota Ramppen, a sexuality educator, relationship coach, and contributor at the Sexual Wellness Center. “Our need to witness comfort and chemistry while exploring the spiciest of desires is taking precedent over what we’re used to seeing.”
According to Pornhub, searches for "demure" surged 133%, while terms like "mindful pleasure" and "mindful JOI" also saw significant increases.
Meanwhile, the viral phrase "Hawk Tuah," coined by Haliey Welch, led to a surge in searches, reaching 10 million views.
"This fascination or interest is driven by what is popular in culture,” said Dr. Betito. “The Hawk Tuah girl viral video showcases an ordinary girl talking about sex. I believe this is the appeal—unfiltered, candid, and spontaneous—in other words: real.”
