"Puwedeng mataba, 'wag lang masyado": PNP chief Sinas cracks down on fat cops
Philippine National Police chief Maj. Gen Debold Sinas wants the country’s police force to get back in shape, saying that the lockdown may have pushed many to gain weight.
Sinas said he has revived a PNP program monitoring the body mass index (BMI) of officers that was stalled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Obesity causes diabetes, causes heart disease which are comorbid disease for COVID-19,” said Sinas.
Alam niyo for the last nine months because of the pandemic, kaunti na lang yung nag-exercise, naging stagnant tayo
Sinas said he has already talked with the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development to implement the monitoring program.
“Kaya nga kami nagde-develop ng four-minute exercise para po at least wag po masyadong tumaba. Puwedeng mataba, wag lang masyado,” said Sinas.
“Alam niyo for the last nine months because of the pandemic, kaunti na lang yung nag-exercise at gumalaw-galaw, naging stagnant tayo,” said Sinas.
“Ako nga nag-observe eh, for the last three months, I strictly followed my diet regimen and exercise, kung kinaya ko at the age of 55, I dont think yung younger sa akin hindi nila kakayanin,” Sinas added.
Previous PNP Chief Archie Gamboa put up the BMI program through a memorandum stating that policemen with unhealthy BMI could be deined schooling.
BMI is one common indicator of body fat that is derived from the weight and height of a person.
