LIST: QC schools that are accepting students from Colegio de San Lorenzo after its sudden closure
The Quezon City government has extended its assistance to the students, parents, teachers, and staff of the Colegio de San Lorenzo (CDSL) community after the school’s sudden closure on August 15.
To recall, CDSL announced its permanent closure on Monday, August 15 due to financial issues brought about by the pandemic and lack of enrollees over the past academic years. The decision, however, was made when the private catholic institution already accepted new enrollees.
In a press release, the QC government announced that it will “coordinate with other schools, colleges, and universities where affected students can transfer with their credentials credited” on August 16. Mayor Joy Belmonte said the LGU will also assist CDSL teachers in looking for new jobs through its public employment and service office.
Belmonte also mentioned in an interview with GMA’s Balitanghali that 717 students from nursery to grade 12 and 652 college students are affected by CDSL’s closure. To add, 172 students are supposed to graduate this coming academic year.
“We will facilitate ‘yung mga mag-aaral para makapag-aral sa iba’t-ibang paaralan dito sa lungsod and we are coordinating with different schools already,” Belmonte added.
Meanwhile, here is a list of schools that opened their doors to the CDSL community, as of this writing.
