Heads up, aspiring lawyers! The Supreme Court of the Philippines has announced the schedule, coverage, and modality for the 2025 Bar Examinations.

As per the Bar Bulletin No. 1 released on Monday, Sept. 16, next year’s bar exams will still be held in September. Six core subjects will be taken by the examinees in the three-day exam. The date and coverage for Day 1 on Sept. 7, 2025, the AM session will be about Political and Public International Law (15%); while the PM session will cover Mercantile and Taxation Laws (20%).

The second day, Sept. 10, will be about Civil Law (20%) for the AM session and Labor Law (10%) and Social Legislation for the PM session, while the third day, Sept. 14, will be about Criminal Law (10%) for the AM session, and Remedial Law, Legal Ethics, & Legal Forms (25%) for the PM session.

There will be a total of 20 essay questions per exam, with only a single question per number. Answers will be graded with a total of zero to 100%, or 5% per question.

The SC added that the questions will be straightforward and will be designed to “assess the examinee’s understanding of basic and fundamental legal knowledge expected of entrants to the legal profession.” No computation will be required.

Additional information including the application procedures, software requirements, venues of local testing centers, and other guidelines are yet to be announced in the coming bulletins.

They also reminded takers to stay tuned for subsequent announcements to be released only on their official Facebook, Instagram, X, Threads, and Viber accounts.

“The road to fulfilling your goal of becoming a lawyer may seem daunting. However, know that it is not an impossible journey,” Associate Justice Amy C. Lazaro-Javier wrote in the bulletin.

“The key is simple: work hard and pray hard. As you prepare for the 2025 Bar Examinations, your days will be filled with challenges and obstacles. Do not be deterred. Do not waver. Show up on days when you feel your best and give it your all. And, on the days when you cannot be your best, that’s alright, show up anyway. Just keep your eyes on the goal and keep #AmyingForExcellence.”
