Marian Rivera’s new passion

Published Dec 07, 2020 4:00 pm

Classic beauty, actress Marian Rivera, has always loved pretty things and everything design. “I have always been into decorating and arranging, finding ways to improve our home,” she shares.

Today, she takes it a notch further by launching her own line of décor: Flora Vida Home. Starting off with preserved and dried flowers, she has also branched out into other accessories and furniture. “It is a specially curated collection of home pieces that I would like to share with everyone.”

Inspired by the iconic toile de Jouy from 18th-century France, the collection is reminiscent of the rustic chic, aristocratic manoirs of the French countryside.

True to the star’s classic style, the collection is a romantic homage to Paris and her love for toile de Jouy.

“It all started when I fell in love with this toile fabric a year ago and realized that I could start this with Flora Vida Home,” the actress explains. “I have always been attracted to prints that are delicate and elegant. It has a calming and soothing vibe that can brighten up any space. I like the classic-home feel of the pattern and colors of this fabric. The vintage feel was inspired by my trip to Paris and my interest in home décor; it all came together naturally and at the right time.”

Wife to fellow actor Dingdong Dantes and mother to two gorgeous children — six-year-old Zia and one-year-old Ziggy — Rivera is a natural homemaker who loves to nest.

Pride of place: Comprised of decorative items such as placemats, Rivera also designed larger pieces such as an ottoman, as well as more affordable accessories like pouches and accent stars.

“When I’m not working, I spend most of my time at home,” Rivera says. “It’s a space where I spend time with my family, so I make sure it’s a place of warmth and positivity. I have always been into decorating and arranging, finding ways to improve our home. The last project that I did was my home office, which gave me a sense of fulfillment. I’ve always wanted to share this passion of mine, and that is how Flora Vida Home came about.”

Starting with lamps made of weathered white wood and patterned toile shades, the collection now includes throw pillowcases, placemats, table runners, an ottoman and an accent chair. It also includes smaller items such as a memo board, a decorative star and a pouch, which are all perfect for gifting this season.

Mistress of the house: Rivera reads next to the Flora Vida lamp she designed.

“Flora Vida also supports local communities by using wood from salvaged mango trees from Southroad Bay, Laguna, and Paeta, Laguna, in some of our products,” Rivera explains. “By doing so, we are also helping Filipinos with their livelihood.”

Not content to rest on her laurels, the actress has been working on this project for the past three years and took the time at home during quarantine to really delve into her passion project.

Starting off with preserved and dried flowers, Rivera has branched out into other accessories and furniture: “It is a specially curated collection of home pieces that I would like to share with everyone.”

“I’ve always looked for ways to improve myself, and this project came at the perfect time, as it’s something new and exciting for me. I hope to bring joy and warmth to you and your loved ones’ living space through Flora Vida Home.”
