Women Can: Redefining Roles in Ayala Land
In an industry often perceived as male-dominated, Ayala Land, Inc. (ALI) stands as a beacon of inclusivity and empowerment, challenging traditional gender norms and fostering an environment where every individual can thrive regardless of gender. As the world celebrates International Women's Day, it's fitting to shine a spotlight on the remarkable women within Ayala Land who are breaking barriers, defying stereotypes, and reshaping the landscape of real estate.
With a commitment to equal opportunity and a dedication to nurturing talent, Ayala Land has consistently advocated for gender equality in the workforce. "Our aspiration is to have a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace," shares Isabel Sagun, Chief Human Resources Officer at Ayala Land. This commitment is reflected in the company's efforts to incorporate diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) in all aspects of its operations, from recruitment to retirement.
One of the most powerful ways Ayala Land demonstrates its commitment to gender equality is by showcasing women thriving in roles traditionally dominated by men. Meet five extraordinary women who are defying stereotypes and making their mark in unconventional roles within Ayala Land:
Ma. Asuncion "Toni" Estrella Bordador - First Officer, AirSWIFT: Toni's journey from cabin crew to pilot exemplifies resilience and determination. Despite initially pursuing a career in pharmacy, Toni followed her passion for flying and earned her pilot's license at the age of 33. Mary France Llorin - Property Manager/Electrical Engineer, APMC: Mary's transition from a Testing & Commissioning Officer to Engineering Operations Manager at APMC showcases her dedication to continuous learning and excellence. With nearly a decade of experience as an electrical engineer, Mary is committed to ensuring safety and enhancing customer experience in property management. Her message to fellow Filipinas is simple yet empowering: “Know your goals, magsikap ng buong puso without being binded by gender or class, let your actions speak for themselves, and always strive to do your best.”
Elaine Saldivar - Aircraft Mechanic, AirSWIFT: As one of the few women in her aircraft maintenance technician course, Elaine initially faced challenges but soon proved herself capable of performing tasks as well as any man. Now, as an Aircraft Mechanic with AirSWIFT, Elaine finds fulfillment in ensuring the safety of passengers by maintaining airworthy aircrafts.
PCol. Elma delos Santos - Security Manager, Ayala Center Cebu, Ayala Malls: Inspired by her father's career in law enforcement, Col. Elma pursued a career in security, eventually becoming the security manager of Ayala Center Cebu. Her dedication to public safety and her leadership exemplify the crucial role women play in security management.
