Armie Hammer has decided to "step away" from filming his latest movie Shotgon Wedding, an action-comedy film with Jennifer Lopez, all because of a controversy. He also addressed the leaked DMs he allegedly sent to women.

A representative from Lionsgate confirmed this with Us saying, “Given the imminent start date of Shotgun Wedding, Armie has requested to step away from the film and we support him in his decision.”

For more than a week, the Call Me By Your Name actor has been trending on social media. An Instagram user named @houseofeffie has been uploading screenshots of explicit direct messages between her (and other victims) and a man who claims to be the actor, and claims to be in an affair with Hammer while he was still married to Elizabeth Chambers.

The screenshots of the chat exchanges allegedly show years of affairs (between 2016 to early 2020) with multiple women, whom he called "kitties," and manipulating them into sexual acts. Hammer was also portrayed as a cannibal, writing to one woman that he was “100% a cannibal,” has wished to “drink your blood" and tells her, "If I wanted to cut off one of your toes and keep it with me in my pocket, so I always had a piece of you in my possession?"

Hammer told TMZ, that he will not respond "to these bullsh*t claims." He also added, "but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for 4 months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic. Lionsgate is supporting me in this and I’m grateful to them for that.”
