Shayne Maquiran of Capiz has withdrawn from the Miss Universe Philippines talent presentation due to health concerns.

In an Instagram post, the beauty queen revealed why she wasn't able to take part in the talent competition of the local pageant held on Saturday, May 6, saying that her health condition is "preventing me from showcasing my God-given talents to the fullest."

Shayne said she was supposed to perform a Broadway piece, but her vocals got affected by a persistent cough.

“My vocals are currently impacted by a persistent cough, which means I won't be performing my dream Broadway piece,” she wrote.

In the same Instagram post, the 25-year-old candidate also shared a snippet of her introductory video for the pageant, sharing that her passion for performing arts is her way of expressing herself and showcasing their culture in Capiz.

She also posted dancing and singing clips of herself, where she can be seen performing songs like On My Own from Les Misérables and Olivia Rodrigo’s Traitor. She also shared videos of her singing Demi Lovato’s This is Me and Little Mix’s Secret Love Song while playing the piano.

Shayne expressed her hope to have another opportunity to showcase her talent and passion for performing arts.

“I remain committed to sharing my abilities with the world and fulfilling God's purpose for giving me these talents. Someday soon, I will have another opportunity to do so,” she said.

“In the meantime, I want to wish all of my fellow performers the best of luck today. May you honor God's gift with grace and excellence,” she concluded.

Shayne was among the Top 5 candidates in the competition's Swimsuit and Runway challenges.

The Miss Universe Philippines 2023 is set to hold its preliminaries on Wednesday, May 10 at the Grand Ballroom, Okada Manila, while the grand coronation night is slated for Saturday, May 13 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The newly crowned queen will represent the Philippines in the international competition that will take place in El Salvador this year.
