‘It almost took 40 years for me’: Chynna Ortaleza opens up about body positivity journey
Chynna Ortaleza got real about her struggles with body positivity, sharing that it took her almost 40 years before she became more confident and comfortable in her own skin.
In a recent Instagram post, the actress shared a half-body snap of her taken by her husband, musician Kean Cipriano. “Kuha ng asawa ko na bilib na bilib na sexy ako,” she wrote in the caption.
“At dahil sa body positivity na ‘yan, I have stopped padding my chest and have been on a journey of accepting the skin I am in without needing to please anyone else but myself,” she added.
The mom-of-two revealed that her journey to body positivity took a while, but it’s worth it in the end. “Quite empowering. It almost took 40 years for me. It isn’t too late. You must try it!” she continued.
This isn’t the first time that the TV personality opened up about her body. In February 2021, when she was “straddling the 89-90 lbs. mark,” she captioned a black and white photo of herself on Instagram with negative comments she’s been hearing about her body and called it a “very vicious cycle.”
While she appreciates people’s concern, she notes the importance of rethinking the way it is said. “All I’m saying is we need to try to be impeccable with what we say. Mindful in the intention. Because people have scars and we do not want to add on to it.”
“You have the ability to transform lives through the use of tone and words. Speak kindly to yourself and one another. Yes, even if it’s a hard subject to chew, it can still be done with respect and empowerment,” Chynna said.
