Chito Miranda and Neri Naig reveal why they keep their money and businesses separate
A typical family would have a father as a breadwinner, and a mother who handles all the finances—but this traditional set-up just doesn’t work for celebrity couple Chito Miranda and Neri Naig Miranda, who keep their money and investments separate.
In Chito’s latest vlog, he and his wife Naig shared how they handle their finances, businesses, and investments—individually and collectively.
“Hindi kami nagpapaka-expert ha! We just want to share what formula works for us. We encourage you to find for yourself what formula works for you,” Miranda wrote on his Instagram.
Chito, who has several real estate rentals and restaurants under his belt including 12 Monkeys, Serene, Quento, and Tomato Kick, revealed that they have been keeping their money separately. “That is something na very, very important sa akin. It’s because the reason kung bakit nagsisipag ako is because sobra kong tamad. Ayoko magpaka-hirap sa dulo. Gusto ko, as early as possible, not naman to retire, but ko gusto ko pa-relaks relaks na lang,” he said in another video.

They keep their businesses separate
“The reason why we have our own negosyo [is] because may sari-sarili kaming style at diskarte sa business,” Chito said. The Parokya ni Edgar lead vocalist said that Neri is more of a risk-taker and strict when it comes to managing her businesses, whereas Miranda is more lenient and a “conservative investor.”
Not only does this technique help them focus more on improving their work, but it prevents them from fighting about their finances.
While they do ask for each others’ opinions and advice, Miranda revealed that “at the end of the day, kaniya-kaniyang diskarte.”
“Kung sumablay siya, problema niya yan. Pera mo yan. Pag sumablay ako, problema ko naman yon,” he said.
They don’t meddle in each others’ money
Whatever Neri earns from her businesses, it’s hers, Chito said. “Her money is her money. My money is our (family’s) money, parang ganon. Pero hindi na siya humihingi sakin ng pera,” Chito said.
However Neri wants to spend her money is all up to her. “Di naman sa wala akong say, pero it's up to you because you're playing and you're gambling with your own money,” the singer-songwriter told Neri, who owns various businesses including Naig’s Not So Secret Garden, Naig's Gourmet Tuyo, Ang Paboritong Suka ng Asawa Ko, The Wais Planner, Naig’s Bakeshop, Very Naig Beddings, Very Naig Sleepwear, Very Naig Wedding Gowns, Accessories, Naig’s Cottage, and the Miranda’s Rest House, which she co-owns with Chito.
They respect each others’ hard work
“Sabihin na nating may sarili kaming pera, pero nirerespeto kasi namin yung mga pinaghirapan,” Neri said. She shared as an example how Miranda would stay up late because of his gigs for years—even before they met—and that asking for his hard-earned money doesn’t feel right for her. “Nire-respeto ko kasi hindi naman ako yung nagpagod doon,” she said.
When it comes to investment, explore
Miranda advices his viewers to “diversify” their investments. “Never put all your eggs in one basket,” he said. “Iba-ibang mga tao katrabaho mo, iba-iba yung mga business mo, para if some fail, meron ka pang iba-ibang back-up.”

Be willing to learn and accept failure
Neri also had several failed endeavors, which helped her along the way. “Marami ring sumablay na businesses si Naig,” Chito said. “Pero okay lang kasi she learned and habang natututo ka, padami nang padami yung tumatama na businesses.”
Chito also tells his followers to be open to learning. “When you're the smartest one in the room, you're in the wrong room. Meaning kailangan napapaligiran ka ng mga tao na mas magagaling sayo para matuto ka,” he said. “If these people see your worth—meaning hardworking ka, honest ka—they will keep inviting you sa investments nila,” he added.
Help each other to succeed
While they do have their own responsibilities, at the end of the day, they’re still a couple. “Nagtutulungan kami,” Chito shared. “Kahit pera niya yung kikitain niya, kunyari for her business title, kunyari kahit effort niya yan, kahit sa kanya yung pera, I want you to succeed because it makes me more secure also,” he mused adding that Naig is also his safety net. “We want each other to succeed, we want to make things easier for each other."
