‘Magpabakuna ka na, bestie:’ A look at Pinoy celebrities who received their COVID-19 jabs
The world is (hopefully) looking up as COVID-19 inoculation drives are currently ongoing.
To further boost public trust in the safety of COVID-19 vaccines, celebrities have been using their platforms to share their experiences on getting jabbed.
Here’s a look at a few Pinoy celebrities who received their COVID-19 vaccines so far:
Maris Racal and Rico Blanco
Days after making their relationship “IG official,” Maris Racal and Rico Blanco received their first COVID-19 vaccine last Saturday, June 12.
Bianca Gonzales
“After everything everyone (we've) been through this past year, eto na, the light at the end of the tunnel and our hope of getting through this,” Bianca Gonzales wrote on her Instagram post as she received her Sinovac jab on June 12.
Gonzales described her experience as “quick and painless.” She also shared that she went through “around 4 to 5 stations” before receiving her jab.
The TV host also urged her followers to get vaccinated against COVID-19, citing that the “best vaccine is the one available.”

“Sinovaxed!” Celebrity couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes received their first doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine in Taguig City.
Dantes admitted on his Instagram post yesterday, June 13, that he was initially nervous before getting jabbed. Despite this, he sought help through research and “consultation with experts.”
Kim Atienza
Alejandro Ilagan "Kuya Kim" Atienza received his COVID-19 vaccine last June 13 through the Manila local government unit.
Iya Villania and Drew Arellano
Iya Villania and Drew Arellano received their COVID-19 jabs at SM Mall of Asia. According to Villania, they qualify under the government’s A4 priority list.
“[W]e can achieve herd immunity only if you too get that shot… no matter which brand it is. The sooner, the better,” she added.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque administered the couple's vaccines.
Daphne Oseña-Paez
Daphne Oseña-Paez got vaccinated under Paranaque City’s A3 priority list last April.
The actress shared her experience on a Facebook post, citing it as “breezy, comfortable, and organized.” She also encouraged her followers to “trust the science, the system, [and] the plan.”
Coney Reyes
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said there was no special treatment given to his mother Coney Reyes when she received her vaccine. The actress qualified under Pasig City’s A3 priority list due to diabetes.
Ruffa Gutierrez
Actress and beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez got vaccinated in Taguig City. She also asked netizens to “take part in the global effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.”
Ogie Alcasid
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid confessed on Instagram that he initially thought that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was the only effective jab against COVID-19. After research, he started to trust the efficacy of other vaccines as well.
“Sinovac ang natoka sa amin at so far so good… Kaya ako nagpabakuna, hindi lang para sa sarili ko, kundi para sa nakararami,” Alcasid added.
Regine Velasquez-Alcasid
Regine Velasquez-Alcasid finished her second dose of the Sinovac vaccine in Quezon City.
JM de Guzman
JM de Guzman is one of the celebrities who participated in the inoculation program organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), and the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund) last June 11.
According to the MMDA, the program aimed to “maximize the support given to [the] beneficiaries and the local movie industry as a whole.”
The celebrities who also participated in the program are Joross Gamboa, Joko Diaz, Jerome Ponce, and Candy Pangilinan, among others.
Jolina Magdangal
Jolina Magdangal received her second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Batasan Hills National High School last May.
Yam Concepcion
Yam Concepcion shared her experience of receiving her first jab of the Moderna vaccine in an Instagram video last May. Compared to other celebrities, she got vaccinated in the US.
Kim Chiu
For Kim Chiu, receiving her Sinovac jab was a day she “prayed to come.” She admitted that she became physically active in the previous year, citing her “what ifs” when the pandemic first broke out in the country.
The actress said her side effect of the vaccine was being “hungry for five days” where she ate “five to six meals” a day.
RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza
Celebrity couple RK Bagatsing and Jane Oineza received their first doses of vaccine in Taguig City.
“The quicker we get everyone vaccinated, the quicker we can all get back to normal,” RK wrote on Instagram, as he urged his followers to get jabbed.
Maine Mendoza
Maine Mendoza received her first COVID-19 jab in Mandaluyong City.
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla
On- and off-screen couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla got vaccinated at the MMDA vaccination site in Makati City. Both actors fall under the A4 category of the government's priority list.
Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson
Sweethearts Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson received their COVID-19 vaccine shots together. The couple posed with @johanndoomlao on Instagram while holding their vaccination cards. The photo was tagged in Marikina City, supposedly indicating they got vaccinated in the area.
A video of the couple also circulated among their fan pages online, where Barretto is seen holding tightly onto Anderson's hand, seemingly nervous about getting vaccinated.
