Girl bashes cheating boyfriend in full-spread newspaper page: 'I bought this ad using your credit card'
They say that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and this scorned woman proves just that.
Mackay and Whitsunday Life, an Australia-based weekly newspaper, caught itself on the other end of the news when a scorned girlfriend named Jenny took out an entire page from the paper to "advertise" her supposedly-cheating ex-boyfriend, Steve.
In the full-page spread, Jenny had the following choice words for her unfaithful lover:
"Dear Steve, I hope you're happy with her," the page reads in glaring capital letters. "Now the whole town will know what a filthy cheater you are."
Jenny ended the scalding ad by saying that she used Steve's credit card to pay for the spread. With infidelity certainly serving as a hot topic online and off, the newspaper has since gone viral on social media—with netizens wondering who exactly Jenny and Steve are.
The ad has rocked the country so much so that the local pub of Adelaide in Australia took it upon itself to apologize to all the Jennys of the world.
Per The Daily Mail, Adelaide's Highway Hotel and Pub shared a joke sign reading "Dear Jenny, I'm sorry. From all the Steves" to reference the ad.
The internet's curiosity has also reached Mackay and Whitsunday Life itself, as they have since released a statement addressing the messages they've received in the past few days.
"We have been inundated with dozens of messages this morning about the Advert on Page 4 of Mackay Life - As there’s too many to reply to; we would like to address it here," they wrote.
They first shared that they do not know who Steve is, but only know that "he’s been very very bad." They added that will not be revealing details about Jenny.
Finally, to clear up claims that the ad is a hoax, they said that they did not charge the credit card that was named to Steve.
In an article they released about the incident, they explained that: "When payment for the ad was due to be processed it was noticed that the name on the credit card was different from the name on the booking so no payment was taken for the ad."
We guess the tale of Jenny and Steve will remain a mystery for now, save for the fact that his infidelity was broadcasted for the entire world to see.
