Man with 15 wives and 107 kids says he’s ‘too smart for one woman’

A 61-year-old man from Western Kenya has 15 wives and 107 kids—and is planning to have more—as he believes he is “too smart for one woman.” 

David Sakayo Kaluhana is a historian who has read over 4,000 books. He’s been gifted with the ability to remember each page in his mind and share it with other people to make a living, but only through word of mouth since he does not write. 

In an interview with Afrimax, he said that the amount of wisdom he has needs to be carried by many ladies to better understand him and his ways. “A head like this one of mine cannot be managed by one woman because it possesses a bigger load that she cannot carry. That’s why I married many wives because I’m too smart for one woman.”

Each wife helps with the house chores—from cooking to washing the dishes and maintaining their home—which helps them get things done in as fast as 30 minutes. As for their food, they serve their meals in large quantities. For example, they finish over 10 loaves of bread every morning.

Likening himself to the Bible’s King Solomon who had 700 wives and 300 concubines, he always reassures his wives that he loves them equally. One of his wives said they “live peacefully and in love.” Another woman said that jealousy used to be in the picture, but they just got used to it over time. Now, they live in harmony and share what they have with one another. 

Having more than over one wife already seems too much, but the man isn’t stopping anytime soon. Since he has a job that’s enough to sustain their lives, he thinks that “even if they become 20 wives, there won’t be a problem.”
