Lysol Philippines is donating Php100-million worth of products to a number of non-profit organizations and foundations. The first to receive the donation is Mercury Drug Foundation Inc. (MDFI), the corporate social responsibility arm of the drugstore chain.

Present during the official turnover last March 13 in its office in Quezon City were MDFI executive director Annie Fuentes, MDFI board of trustees Cora Lim and Alice Lumanog, MDFI program manager Adette Dizon, Mercury Drug Corporation purchasing manager Adie Ferrer, Reckitt Philippines general manager Sachin Budhraja, trade sales director Jenny Tan, national sales manager Jeff Sajot, group customer development manager Weng Briones, Total Hygiene category head Gian Yap, and Total Lysol assistant brand manager Sage Lao.

Mercury Drug Foundation, a private, non-stock, non-profit organization committed to helping build a healthy, educated, and productive Philippines, will receive P10-million worth of products from Reckitt Philippines, the company that owns and distributes Lysol in the country.

A variety of products, most of which are formulated to combat COVID-19, such as Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Lysol Hand Soap, Lysol Disinfectant Concentrate, and Mortein Flying Insect Killer, will be given to their partner NGOs.

Fuentes said the partnership with Reckitt Philippines and Lysol will enhance MDFI’s programs. “This is an important partnership as it will help us in our goal of making a difference in the health and well-being of people, and in promoting education.”

MDFI’s programs are focused on health and education: Operation Bigay Lunas which provides free medicines and medical services to underserved communities; Bantay Kalusugan which promotes healthy lifestyles and proper management of non-communicable diseases as well as feeding of undernourished children; Operation Pa-Tubig which provides potable water to waterless communities; scholarships for deserving but financially challenged college students; Gawad Talino which recognizes and awards talented senior high school students; and a school assistance program which aids schools with quick response kits and protective items to ensure the safety, protection, and care of school children and staff.

The P10-million worth of Lysol products will be given to their partner public schools and will be used to disinfect classrooms, school facilities, and school grounds in preparation for the upcoming academic year.

MDFI will also give a portion of the donated Lysol products to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“We hope this will be a regular partnership. It would really enhance the programs we are doing. And it would mean that we would be able to do more for our recipients,” Fuentes shared.

“This 2023, we want to remind our fellow Filipinos that even in the new normal, we should not let our guards down as other illnesses still continue to be a threat to our daily lives and future,” said Reckitt Philippines president and general manager Sachin Budhraja. “We know how important protecting our families is so we must continue to keep our surroundings clean and disinfected.”

“Through MDFI, we hope to promote healthy hygiene among school kids. If they get sick less, they learn better,” he added.

Lysol has a long and established track record in hygiene and sanitation, a rich heritage that began in 1889.

As a trusted cleaning and disinfecting product brand that was approved for use on SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, Lysol aims to break the chain of infection through industry-leading, science-backed products against a spectrum of bacteria and germs.

Many Lysol products such as Lysol Disinfectant Spray, Lysol Disinfecting Wipes, and Lysol All Purpose Cleaner have been proven to kill the COVID-19 virus and are used by hospitals and other facilities.

As the world’s health landscape continues to change, Lysol is also working nonstop to improve its products, making them more effective against new and evolving germs, bacteria, and other health risks.
