Rovin Mizuse: The queen of makeup transformations
Life doesn’t go according to one’s plan. Other things will come along to change you, to change your opportunities, to change your life. Such was the case for makeup artist Rovin Mizuse, who had to go through hardships and challenges before finding her true calling.
Her first encounter with color palettes was at 15, when her mother, who’s a makeup artist, would ask Rovin to assist her at wedding gigs. Rovin watched and learned, and got paid for her little service.
“I never really thought that being a makeup artist would be my career because back then it was just a way for me to get extra allowance,” she said. In 2017, she enrolled at the Makeup Design Academy and got her certificate to operate as a stand-alone makeup artist. Her career that time didn’t flourish, so she tried her luck in sales after giving birth to her firstborn.
Coming home to herself
While her new job provided for her family’s needs, Rovin realized that an office job was not for her. And so, she quit and went back to her first love.
“It was a risky move, because I didn’t know what was in store for me out there,” relates Rovin. “But since doing makeup is what I love doing, for me it will always be the right choice.”
To help expand her career and reach a wider audience, she started to exhaust her Instagram account as her second portfolio by posting various transformation videos. When the pandemic began, she also turned to TikTok.
Being persistent
It wasn’t an easy ride for the “Queen of Makeup Transformations.” Rovin had to work her way to the top.
Finally, her first “story time” video went viral on TikTok. “I never expected any of this to happen. Tiktok literally changed my life,” Rovin, who wows viewers with her jaw-dropping and stunning makeup looks.
Soon, Misuze started receiving PR packages from different makeup, skincare and clothing brands. She also got invited as a speaker to various workshops.
The beauty industry is a battlefield of big names, but Mizuse didn’t falter, especially now that she already has a large following.
“I’m a firm believer that if you want something, manifest it, work hard for it and be patient,” adds Rovin, who attributes her success to the many platforms that brought her to the spotlight.
The pandemic has taken a lot from all of us, but Rovin found ways to use isolation as a tool to hone her craft and create her own niche audience.
“It might take you long before you achieve your goals, but you’ll eventually get there. Just be persistent,” Rovin enthuses.
