Aljur Abrenica on state of heart towards self, God, AJ Raval, kids: 'Sapat'
If Aljur Abrenica can describe the state of his heart right now in one word, it's "sapat."
The actor opened up about his life lately in an interview with Toni Gonzaga for Toni Talks, which was uploaded on YouTube on April 2.
"Sapat sa pagmamahal sa sarili ko, sapat sa pagmamahal ko sa Panginoon, sa mga anak ko, sa lahat ng mga importanteng tao sa buhay ko," Abrenica said. "Sapat ako, okay ako."
Gonzaga then followed up if what Abrenica said involves the "new love" of his life, pertaining to actress AJ Raval. He then nodded in affirmation.
Asked about how he deals with the public eye especially when it comes to his personal life, Abrenica said he'd rather stay quiet and direct his energy to what's "more important."
"Rather than talking about ang mga ganyang speculation, iniisip ko, inii-schedule ko, 'Saan kaya kami pupunta ng mga anak ko this weekend?" he said. There have been speculations that his marriage with actress Kylie Padilla ended because of Raval. In the same interview, however, he still admitted to cheating on Padilla, but not with Raval.
Instead of elaborating on his relationship with Raval, Abrenica talked about his goals to become a better father figure to his two kids with Padilla.
"Ang daddy nila, hindi perpekto, nagkakamali. Pero ang gusto kong malaman nila, every moment of my life, I always give my 100%."
"I'm doing my best...for you," he said, addressing Alas Joaquin and Axl Romero. "I'll be the hero you can look up to."
Abrenica and Padilla got married in 2018. They have two children together.
In July 2021, Padilla announced that they're no longer together. Abrenica was immediately linked to Raval, as they starred in the VivaMax movie Nerisa, which was released in the same month.
Raval strongly denied the third-party accusations, as Padilla also clarified later on that Raval had nothing to do with the breakup.
Abrenica and Raval went Instagram official last Valentine's Day.
In late February, Padilla said she and Abrenica are still finalizing their annulment. They're already on good terms, she said, and have agreed to co-parent their kids.
