Here’s what you need to know about ‘Love Alarm’ season 2

The Love Alarm app gets an update.

As with most apps in real life, Love Alarm, too, gets a version 2.0, where users will be able to tell how feelings will grow between two people. So-hyun said, “I think that will allow for a lot of new kinds of stories and twists and turns that function lets you know who you might end up falling for.” 

Kang looked at it in a bigger perspective saying, “During the first season, there were a lot of conflict between the characters. So, how these conflicts will be overcome is definitely something I think you should be watching out for in the second season.”

Kim Jojo somehow regrets having used the shield function.

In season 1, high schooler and Love Alarm app developer Cheon Duk Gu (played by Lee Jae-eung) gave Jojo the shield function, which allows her to hide her feelings from anyone she likes. “Jojo is a character who used to be very defensive.” She added, “She was afraid of other people knowing how she truly felt, which leads her to use the shield function on the Love Alarm app.”

“And in the second season, the frustration because of having used the shield leads to Jojo taking different actions, and it leads to her personal growth and development,” So-hyun shared.

Song Kang cried so much during filming season 2.

In season 2, Sun-oh becomes more mature and grown-up after the break-up with Jojo, but also shed a lot of tears. Director Kim revealed that Kang put himself in Sun-oh’s shoes and “thought long and hard about his character.” “I think if you try to put a lot of thought into interpreting the character, the character always ends up growing and becoming more mature,” he said.

Kang shared that he rewatched the first season to channel Sun-oh. “As I was trying to act those scenes where I had to cry, I became Sun-oh literally. And I think that's why I shed a lot of tears,” he said.

Director Kim Jin-woo thinks Jung Ga-ram is very much like his own character, Hye-yeong.

Nobody could’ve played Hye-yeong better than Jung Ga-ram. According to director Kim Jin-woo, he claims that Ga-ram “actually resembles Hye-yeong in that both are gentle, diligent and earnest.”

“While Ga-ram was acting Hye-yeong, I found something that was very impressive because he tried to keep his emotions inside and try to hide his feelings so that he would be become a trustworthy faithful person to other people,” Director Kim said. “And in reality, as we were filming on set and as we were talking off screen, I saw that the personality of Ga-ram was very similar to Hye-yeong as a character.”

So-hyun learned so much from her character Jojo

In the K-drama, So-hyun’s character Jojo was put in a tough situation wherein she had two choose between Sun-oh and Hye-yeong, and bare with the consequences of the choices she makes.

“I think through portraying the character Jojo I was once again reminded of the consequences that follow your decisions in life. And I think as an actress, I learned how to be more detailed, how to be more subtle in portraying the excitement, the heart fluttering, as well as the sense of fear,” So-hyun shared.

Kang and So-hyun won’t download the app in real life.

Unfortuntely, if there'd be an app that will let your crush know that he or she likes you, the two cast members would still prefer to do things the traditional way.

So-hyun said, “[Jojo’s] choices ended up in the story hurting Sun-oh and Hye-yeong without my intention. So, that was very difficult. So for me, even if it were real I think I would prefer to express my feelings with my own words, rather than using the app.”

Meanwhile, Kang agreed saying telling someone you like yourself "is more true." He shared, “I also don't think I would download the app. While the app is convenient in that you don't have to express your feelings. But I think that delivering your feelings in your own words of confessing your emotions by yourself is more true.”
