Julia Barretto says she just wants to ‘have a family,’ echoing BF Gerald Anderson’s future goal
Julia Barretto, who just turned 24 years old yesterday, clearly knows what she wants in life.
It’s simple, the actress said. She just wants to have a family.
In a vlog by photographer BJ Pascual uploaded on Wednesday, March 10, Julia reiterated that she is already planning to have a family. This is after she said in her sister Dani Barretto’s vlog last month that she wants to have a baby and start a family.
Asked by Pascual what she wants next in her life as she turns 24, Julia said she wants to continue working hard as an actress for the next two years so she can start a family by the time she’s 26 years old.
“As an actress, ang dami ko pang gustong gawin na stories, ang dami ko pang gustong gawing movies, to take on different roles. Especially that I’m getting older, mas nagiging mature din ‘yung mga roles na I’m allowed to do and that I’m willing to do,” she said.
Julia continued: “Aside from that, ako kasi, simple lang talaga ang gusto ko sa life. I just wanna have a family. ‘Yun lang talaga. So I feel like at 24, nagwo-work na ako sobra. Tapos siguro at 25, work din sobra. Para 26 and above, pwede na akong mag-start ng family ko. Yun ang dream ko talaga for myself ever since I was young.
“So ‘yun, to answer your question, now that I’m 24, I think I just really wanna hustle now, hustle next year, and then figure out from there how to start a family.”
Julia explained she probably has this mindset because she has “such a good family.” The Between Maybes actress is the daughter of actors Dennis Padilla and Marjorie Barretto. She has four siblings: Claudia, Leon, Dani, and Erich.
This, she said, is the reason why she’s looking forward to having her own family.
Of course, Julia enjoys being an actress and acknowledges that she is “blessed” to be able to do something she’s passionate about.
Asked by Pascual who she wants to settle down with, Julia, after trying to be coy about it, said: “Syempre sa partner ko.”
Julia’s interview with Pascual was probably filmed before Gerald admitted in an interview with Boy Abunda that he is “very happy” with the actress, an admission of their long-rumored relationship.
After the admission, Gerald and Julia greeted each other on their birthdays. The 32-year-old actor celebrated his birthday on Sunday, March 7.
Interestingly, Gerald has also said in recent interviews that he also wants to start a family in the near future.
“I’m just trying to… kumbaga sa giyera, kung ako sundalo, gusto ko ready na ready na ako sumabak. I’m just taking my time,” Gerald said in an interview with PhilSTAR L!fe and other members of the press during his launch as the endorser of multivitamin supplement Rogin-E last week.
In the same interview with Pascual, Julia sad she has learned to “compartmentalize” what other people are saying about her. Julia’s relationship with Gerald has been making showbiz headlines since 2019, as it precedes the actor’s rocky breakup with actress Bea Alonzo.
“The older I’m getting, I’m slowly starting to realize how important it is to compartmentalize: what matters and what doesn’t matter,” she said.
Julia said she knows people will judge her regardless of what she does so she has to “keep going.”
“Sometimes, when it’s the opinion of people who don’t have a significant role in your life, who really don’t matter to you, who you don’t even know, I’m never going to be affected by it. You don’t know me, I don’t know you, we can’t judge each other. It’s just not possible,” she said.
