Say thank you to our COVID-19 medical frontliners by following these healthy tips
Medical frontliners are heaving a sigh of relief now that COVID-19 cases in the country continue to drop. A well-deserved pause, indeed, for tirelessly manning the fort and risking their own lives to save others.
And so, how do we say “thank you” to our health warriors? Let us count the ways:
- Don’t ever let your guard down as the virus and its new variant Omicron continue to claim lives around the globe. Remember, the virus didn’t magically disappear with the lifting of quarantine restrictions and the administration of vaccines. Your immune system can still be compromised. So let’s do our healthcare workers a favor by keeping safe always.
- Focus on having the best health of your life. Health goes beyond just the body. Find the areas of improvement in terms of your mental health, emotional health, and physical health—and address them. Working on your health will improve your immunity, which is one of the top priorities of everyone right now.
- Go online and exercise. Now is the worst time to stagnate. It’s still possible to reach your fitness goals even from home and while working from home. There are fitness routines available online that require zero equipment. All you have to do is get your body moving for 60 seconds, every 60 minutes.
- Eat the rainbow. Chances are, you’ve been told this countless times growing up. But what does “eat the rainbow” really mean? Well, eating different colored fruits and veggies is a fundamentally healthy way to eat as each of these colored food items has illness-fighting nutrients you need to help your body function at its best.
- Get vaccinated! Vaccines are one of our top protectors against COVID-19, so register at your local government and get yourself that shot. The soonest we achieve herd immunity, the faster we can go back to our pre-pandemic lives.
- Join a virtual run for a cause. As they say, “Life is like a race, you should keep on running.” Well, that’s probably everyone’s mantra nowadays. We need to live life to the fullest before our time runs out. Such is the case of some of the participants of the 7-Eleven Virtual Run 2021.
About 40,000 professional and weekend runners from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao have signed up and ran virtually with one goal in mind: to show their gratitude to our medical frontliners, who are running against time to help put an end to this pandemic.
Held from Nov. 7 to Nov. 30, 7-Eleven, the country’s leading convenience store, spearheaded this virtual run event to help raise funds for our medical heroes.
Actress and triathlete Bubbles Paraiso and online content creators Wil Dasovich and Marvs Fojas also joined the virtual run.
Through the runners/participants’ and its partners’ support, 7-Eleven was able to donate P2 million worth of CLiQQ e-wallet credits to medical frontliners from 20 select hospitals across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The donation was handed over by 7-Eleven’s CSR arm PhilSeven Foundation Inc.
These CLiQQ e-wallet credits will allow frontliners to purchase their food and other essentials at 7-Eleven.
This event has truly made a mark, not only on the runners who pursued their active lifestyle, but also on the frontliners who have been sacrificing their lives to save other people.
Causes such as this can truly have a huge effect on the people at the forefront of our war against the disease.
Also, who would have thought that by taking care of ourselves, we could also protect and help save our medical warriors?
