Miss Universe Philippines 2021 candidates slay the National Costume show
Miss Universe Philippines (MUPH) 2021’s National Costume competition was a showcase of Filipino artistry—from fashion design to architecture and music.
The 28 MUPH candidates paraded in their colorful national costumes that celebrate the elegance and sophistication of the first Filipina beauty queens—the Manila Carnival Queens.
The candidates’ masterfully created national costumes were interpreted in traditional, modern and avant-garde styles.
The newly inaugurated Clark International Airport in Pampanga served as the runway for the MUPH candidates.
In the almost seven-minute pre-recorded show streamed on Empire PH's YouTube channel, the candidates were grouped into regions—Luzon and NCR, Visayas and Mindanao—as they presented their stunning costumes to the tune of the pageant’s official national costume song Kulay by P-pop group BGYO.
There are 28 remaining candidates after the withdrawal of candidates Joanna Maria Rabe of Zambales due to dengue, and Ybonne Ortega of Davao City after testing positive for COVID-19.
