LOOK: Nicole Borromeo wears sea urchin-inspired national costume for the 61st Miss International
Nicole Borromeo of the Philippines donned a colorful sequined for the National Costume competition at the 61st Miss International in Tokyo, Japan on Oct. 26.
Nicole, who is one of the Top 15 delegates in the ongoing pageant, chose to present the sea urchin or tuoym in Filipino as her national costume.
Designed by Axel Que, her Swaki costume is an ode to the "culinary treasure cherished by the Philippines and Japan," the host country.
It has hand-sewn sequins, reminiscent of Yayoi Kusama's iconic polka dots, which according to Axel, "create a breathtaking masterpiece that captures a shared passion for gastronomy and coastal way of life."
Makeup artist Nikko Dela Peña created a bold and eye-catching look, with matching hot pink blush and quirky eyebrow embellishments to add a unique touch.
Stylist Edward James Castro finished her outfit with bright green lace-up platform heels.
The Cebuana beauty queen is vying for the Philippines' seventh Miss International crown.
The 61st Miss International is ongoing at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
