Pharell Williams launches a new skincare line, Humanrace
"Proud dad moment," Pharrell Williams wrote on Instagram, announcing his newest baby, Humanrace.
The singer, songwriter, record producer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur, has now joined the ranks of stars boasting their own range of beauty products. Turns out, the Happy singer is a big skincare addict, who, in the early days of his career, would chat up models about skincare. “Sometimes you need to cleanse your spirit. Sometimes you need to cleanse your mind. Sometimes you’ve just got to get rid of some dead skin,” Williams shares to Allure.
Fast forward to 2020, Williams now launches his own skincare line, Humanrace, developed with his longtime dermatologist, Elena Jones. “Humanrace is a full-on brand. We just want to make things better. We want to democratize the experience of achieving wellness," he told the magazine. "Ours is all based on results and solutions and sensations. We wanted to look at sensations. I mean, we live in a world that needs it.”

The products
Humanrace Skincare has three products: a cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer.
The Rice Powder Cleanser gently exfoliates your skin as they cleanse. It contains fruit alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) that helps in dissolving dead skin cells.
Next is the Lotus Enzyme Exfoliant. It's a chemical peel formulated with glycolic acid with a concentration of 8% that helps renew skin's surface.
And finally, the Humidifying Cream, is a hydrating moisturizer with snow mushroom extract, "a moisture-binding organic ingredient with roots in Chinese medicine that behaves similarly to hyaluronic acid," hyaluronic acid, rice water, and niacinamide.
“I grew up in humidity. The way I think about things... I’m an Aries, but I’m also a Cancer rising. Water makes me feel free. Water is very inspiring to me.” He adds, “I’ve always been obsessed with the idea that water falls [from] the sky as evaporation.”
Packaging
Packaging is eco-friendly and sustainable, too, with 50% of the packaging comes from post-consumer recycled plastic, and only a small amount of virgin plastic is used. Each product also has a removable container that can be exchanged for a refill.
Price range and availability
The Rice Powder Cleanser retails at $32, while the Lotus Enzyme Exfoliator is at $46 and Humidifying Cream at $48, or get the whole range for $100. It will be available starting November 25 at humanrace.com.
