Are you ready to cheer for another Filipina as she vies for a pageant crown? On Friday, Dec. 17, Miss World 2021 will be crowning a new queen, and here's how you can stay tuned.
The pageant will air on CNN Philippines—channel 9 on free TV, channel 10 on Cignal TV, and channel 14 on Sky Cable—at 8:30 AM.
It will also stream online beginning 8:00 AM via Upstream for P399.
Philippine bet Tracy Maureen Perez will compete against 96 other candidates to succeed the current-reigning Miss World 2019 Toni-Ann Singh from Jamaica. The 2020 edition of the pageant was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Perez secured a spot in the Top 30 after a Head to Head challenge where her Beauty with a Purpose project was chosen as part of the top 5.
For this leg of the competition, she presented her advocacy project, "Para Kay Nanay," aimed to empower single parents. This advocacy is near and dear to her heart as it's dedicated to her late mother Chona.
The 28-year-old Cebuana hopes to become the second Filipina to take home the Miss World crown after Megan Young won the title in 2013.
This year's Miss World coronation night is held in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum. A day before the finals night, 17 cases of coronavirus have been detected among candidates and technical personnel.
