Here's what to expect at the 72nd Miss Universe coronation night
Are you ready to meet the new Miss Universe queen this November?
After much preparation and meticulous selection, the 90 delegates from all over the world will be narrowed down to just one queen deserving of the crown in this year's edition of the Miss Universe on Nov. 18 in El Salvador.
Here's what we know so far about the 72nd Miss Universe pageant:
How to watch
Michelle Dee from Makati City will represent the Philippines in this year's competition. Filipino pageant fans can witness her slay the runway by streaming the coronation night through multiple ABS-CBN platforms including A2Z Channel 11, Kapamilya Channel, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC, on Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. (PH time).
In case you won't be able to watch the pageant live, you can still catch it through same-day replays available at 9:30 pm on A2Z, Kapamilya Channel via Sunday’s Best, Metro Channel, and iWantTFC. More replays will air on the Metro Channel later in the week.
The organization, owned by Thai entrepreneur Anne Jakrajutatip, is also offering VIP tour packages for those who are watching the show live.
The package rates start from $6,650 (P374,461) to $7,650 (P430,771) depending on the type of room.
The package does not include the airfare but it is inclusive of a 7-night stay at a 4-star hotel in El Salvador from Nov. 12 to 19.
Performers
You can't have the queens gracing the runway without any live performances from music artists. For this year's coronation night, the aspirants will be strutting their stuff to the rich vocals of award-winning artist John Legend, as announced on the pageant's official Instagram account.
The singer-songwriter is known for his songs All of Me, Ordinary People, and Made to Love.
Flow of the event
Based on last year's flow, the 90 delegates will first be narrowed down to the Top 16 before they will have a chance to show they're deserving of the crown through the swimsuit and evening gown segments.
Among them, the Top 5 queens will be chosen, who will then be narrowed down to just three before ultimately announcing the winner.
The winning queen will assume the title of Miss Universe from reigning queen, R'Bonney Gabriel.
