French brand unveils P2 million bag made from meteorite
French brand Coperni has been a hot topic online for its latest release: a handbag made out of meteorite.
Dubbed the “Meteorite Swipe Bag,” the limited edition item under its Fall/Winter ’23 collection “combines archeology, design, and classical and primitive art.”
It measures 9 x 12 x 23 centimeters and weighs around 1.8 kg, but note that these are just estimates as every piece is exclusively handmade and the meteorite that will be incorporated in each one will be sourced individually per order.
According to the fashion label, the rare dark grey stone featured in the official product photographs “is estimated to have fallen on Earth 55,000 years ago and is certified 100% authentic.” It was discovered in 1968 in the South of France, and was carved only this year.
Each bag costs around $43,000 (over P2 million) and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It's non-refundable “due to its bespoke nature.”
