The best things to buy this October if you need a little pick-me-up
You don't have to buy extravagant things to treat yourself. Even the simplest item you can find online can bring you joy and make you feel good—that's what matters after all.
From fashion to toys, food, and more, the list ahead covers products that you (or a loved one and your furry friend) might need for a little pick-me-up.
Fashion
harlan + holden
Sometimes, it's difficult to decide if an outfit is suitable for work or if it would be better for the weekends. For harlan + holden's harlan02 collection, there should be nothing in between. Their latest collection is composed of wardrobe staples that can be mixed and matched, making it easier for the wearer to dress up without the stress, giving them more time to "focus on the things that truly matter."
Modeling the latest collection are Mari Jasmine, Jess Wilson, and Tricianne Estrada, the newest faces of harlan + people—a set of accomplished creatives who are "living in the present and open to infinite possibilities."
Uniqlo
We were skeptical at first, but these period panties are just it! If menstrual cups or organic sanitary products aren't really your thing, try period pants.
Uniqlo's newest AIRism Absorbent Sanitary Shorts (P990) somehow feels like your usual AIRism seamless panty but more perfectly-fit. It is made of three layers: a quick-drying and odor control layer, an absorbent layer that holds up to 30-45ml of liquid, and a water-resistant layer made of laminated water-repellent fabric. You won't have to worry about leakage because its water-resistant layer fully covers the hip!
Vans
These new Halloween-inspired kicks make the perfect spooky accessory to any look. Vans teamed up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products to create pieces that feature graphics and text inspired by classic horror films.
There's a Vans Era in classic Checkerboard with iconic red balloons from IT, and the SK8-Hi’s bright repeated text logo from The Shining, plus handwritten script callout across the outsole. Additional Horror footwear styles include the Classic Slip-On, the Old Skool, and the Style 47 Creeper.
The Vans x Horror collection is available beginning October 1, 2021 on select Vans stores.
Lifestyle
Joan Miro
Looking for a fun art activity with the little ones? Get them something from Joan Miro! Joan Miro, a leading toy brand in Europe, "hopes to promote art as a form of expression, play as a method of learning, and thinking as a means of self-discovery." And to do that, they launched three lineups for kids: Art, Play, and Think.
The Art product line-up features artist boxes, drawing books, origami sets, stickers, and card sets as well as washable paints and markers. The Play and Think lines are comprised of sand kits, modeling doughs, and simple card games. Also available exclusively in the Philippines is the Alpabetong Filipino Ring Flash Card Set that hopes to introduce children to Filipino vocabulary, food, culture, geography, and animals.
Klean Kanteen
It's the same Carnival Candy you know and love, but better.
The Klean Kanteen insulated bottle that's sold every October is back with a new twist (pun intended). The limited edition TKWide 32oz Carnival Candy 3.0 (P2,550) features the signature Climate Lock insulation system, which keeps drinks hot 24 hours and iced up to 83 hours, a TK Closure, and comes with a taupe-colored Twist Cap.
Part of the proceeds from this collection will be donated to the ICANServe Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.
M Bakery
We'll always have space for sweet treats! And guess what? M Bakery is heading to Power Plant Mall in Rockwell this October!
Starting October 10, shoppers will be able to grab freshly baked goods from the iconic New York bakery including their bestselling Banana Pudding and other exclusive treats that will be made available only during their opening month.
Don't miss their Bubbly Cupcakes, Choc Nut Cupcake, Banana Streusel, Chocolate Hazelnut Hand Pie, and Blueberry Hand Pie this October!
Pets
Pedigree
All kinds of dogs—whether they're stray dogs or pet dogs—deserve the right to live as humans. But sadly, many stray animals are living in terrible conditions and don't receive any love or care as pet dogs. With your small acts of love, however, you can help them by ensuring they get full meals through the Pedigree Feed A Friend, Fill the Bowl campaign.
This whole month of October, simply buy a 1.3kg bag or more from Pedigree's Official Store on Lazada and Shopee and all participating supermarkets and pet stores, and a meal is donated to one shelter dog through shelter partner, Animal Kingdom Foundation. The pet food company aims to provide 200,000 meals to these beneficiary dogs.
