Lizzo launches an inclusive shapewear line, YITTY

Lizzo's new fashion line will get you "feeling good as hell!"

The body normative celebrity has officially introduced YITTY, a size-inclusive shapewear brand, to the public.

"This is a dream 5 years in the making…" Lizzo captions, as she shows of her figure wearing white mesh underwear and the name YITTY stamped on her butt cheek.

The award-winning artist has teamed up with Kate Hudson's athleticwear brand Fabletics to help redefine shapeware, and YITTY is her "love letter" to big girls and a "welcome letter to Every Body."

"This is *not* an invitation to change who you are… this is an opportunity to BE who you are on your terms. I don’t know about y’all— but I’m sick of people telling me how I’m supposed to look and feel about my body. I’m tired of discomfort being synonymous with sexy. If it’s uncomfortable TAKE IT OFF. And if it makes you feel good PUT IT ON. @YITTY isn’t just shapewear, it’s your chance to reclaim your body and redefine your beauty standard," Lizzo wrote in one of her posts.

YITTY was inspired by the founders' personal experience. Growing up, she would wear girdles and constricting bodyshapers, but she admitted that it "was a painful experience" for her and it led her to hate her body.

“I have spent the entirety of my life trying to change the way that I look or reshape my body,” says Lizzo. “It was really painful and I really felt that it shouldn’t be this way; we shouldn't be ashamed of our bodies and we shouldn’t have to wear these contraptions to feel beautiful.” the Grammy award-winning artist said during an Instagram Live.

When she was younger, her body "was a source of sadness." "I didn't like my body. I didn't like going wearing clothes and going to the mall because there was nothing there for me. And I got older, and I started to discover this like freedom with loving myself and actually enjoying wearing clothes," she continued.

Lizzo, whose childhood nickname is Yitty, created the brand so that people could wear shapewear like an "underwear, overwear, anywhere" and that none of them would ever have "to feel ashamed about wearing clothing" ever again.

Unlike usual shapewears that come in neutral colors, theirs come in bold prints and bright colors "that are meant to be exposed," in "styles that are technically designed to be worn as your under layer but cute enough to wear alone."

The sizing ranges from XXS to 6X. Her first collection will be released in three drops: Nearly Naked, Major Label, and Mesh Me.

YITTY launches this April 12, and will be available at YITTY.com, Fabletics.com and in all 76 Fabletics stores.
