Published Oct 18, 2021 6:58 pm

The Philippines’ Kodie Macayan is the 2020 Mr. Gay World!

With his sleek style and looks, Kodie bested eight other candidates to take home the crown for the second time in a row after Philippine bet John Jeffrey "Janjep" Carlos won the same pageant in 2019.

Kodie is the third Filipino to nab the crown following Carlos and John Raspado in 2017.

Aside from the biggest win of the night, Kodie was a crowd favorite as he also nabbed the Best in National Costume and Best in Personal Interview portions of the competition. He also bagged the Most Public Votes, Best Social Media Presence, and Best Formal Wear awards of the night.

"I am overwhelmed with so much love, joy, and gratitude for this victory. Thank you, Lord for this wonderful blessing!" Kodie shared after his win in the virtual event.

"Now, I can finally use the MGW platform to pursue my mission and that is to help educate everyone about the vital role we play in each other’s life in the world."

"Through the MGW platform, we can raise awareness about the importance of practicing inclusivity in making this world a better place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, gender fluid and plus, together with the heterosexual people."

Poland's Marek Piekarczyk was named 2020 Mr. Gay World 1st runner-up and Mexico's Vicente Miron was 2nd runner-up.

With the 2020 Mr. Gay World being halted by the pandemic, the 2021 leg of the competition will immediately follow up Kodie's win to be held this Oct. 30. Given that, the Mr. Gay World team announced that "Kodie will reign consecutively with the Mr. Gay World 2021 winner, making it the first time in history that two Mr. Gay World delegates will reign at the same time."
