Kendall Jenner responds to criticisms against her 'inappropriate' wedding guest dress
Kendall Jenner revealed on Tuesday that her best friend and bride Lauren Perez approved the controversial dress the model wore to her wedding last November 2021.
The 26-year old celebrity turned heads and raised eyebrows when photos of her attending a beach wedding wearing a risqué all-black Mônot cut-out dress surfaced the Internet. However, according to Jenner, it was obviously approved by her BFF.
"@laurenperez obvi asked for your approval in advance too. We love a beach wedding," she wrote as a reply to Perez who said she "looked stunning" and that she "loved" the cutout dress.
After Perez posted a carousel on Instagram on New Year's Eve, which includes the said photos of the Keeping Up with the Kardashians alum, netizens sparked nasty reactions calling Jenner's gown "inappropriate," "cringe," and "blatantly disrespectful." Some also said that Kendall is overshadowing the bride and trying to steal the spotlight from her.
"Inappropriate outfit at wedding @kendalljenner I'm embarrassed for you. #cringe," one commenter wrote.
"Cute dress but nothing could be worse for a wedding. All that money and no class or consideration for others" another commenter wrote on TikTok.
But as it turns out, Jenner, who was a bridesmaid, only wore it to the wedding reception. She previously wore a custom sky blue Bec and Bridge tube dress like the other bridesmaids.
The FRWD creative director also pointed out that beach wedding ceremonies tend to be less formal than traditional weddings, and therefore welcomes “scantily clad” fashion moments.
Other guests in attendance were Bella Hadid, Fai Khadra, Hailey Bieber, and Hannah Bronfman.
