First Lady Liza Marcos among the best dressed guests in King Charles III coronation—British media
First Lady Liza Marcos was among the guests who stood out at King Charles III’s coronation, according to a British news outlet.
Following the historical coronation held last May 7, The Telegraph released a list of 52 “most fashionable” personalities who graced Westminster Abbey. They recognized the Philippines' First Lady, who wore a traditional Filipinana ensemble in powder blue by Paul Cabral, placing her in the 46th spot.
The dress featured French curve-patterned embellishments from the bodice to the hem, and also had an embroidered fishnet-like texture.
The dress also also had mesh attachments around the collar and sleeves area and a pleated underskirt, giving it a unique touch. The look was completed with a thin bow belt and a three-inch powder blue bow satin slingback heels by local shoe brand Tish.
Other famous personalities included in the list are Katy Perry, Dame Emma Thompson, Jill Biden, and Olena Zelenska.
Members of the British Royal family also made it on the list, such as the Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Beatrice, and Zara Tindall.
Marcos attended the historical event with her husband and the Philippine President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. It is the first one to be held after 70 years since the late Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953.
In a statement shared on May 8, Marcos Jr. expressed his congratulations to King Charles III and Queen Camilla and said he was honored to "represent the Philippines on such a historic occasion."
"It was as grand and magnificent a ceremony as could have been, full of symbolism and weighted by history," he wrote.
"Filipinos wish His Majesty King Charles III a long and happy reign. May his Coronation signify the start of a new chapter of peace, progress, and prosperity for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth," he added.
Marcos Jr. also recalled his brief encounter with the King a day before the coronation, where the latter "asked after his friend, my mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, and recounted fond memories of the time they shared together."
