‘We did it’: Harnaaz Sandhu sends love in first Instagram post as Miss Universe 2021
Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu opened up about believing in herself during the pageant’s final Q&A portion—while thanking those who believed in her too.
In her first social media post as the newly crowned Miss Universe, Sandhu expressed her love to her pageant team, family, friends, Miss India Organization, and the Miss Universe Organization.
“We did it… I said in my final answer, that I believed in myself and that’s why I was on that stage. I also want to mention a few people who believed in me too,” Sandhu said.
Aside from her family and friends, the 21-year-old beauty queen also sent her love to Miss India national director of international pageants for being the “driving force” behind her win.
“You motivated me and your ‘Chak de phatte’ moments have stayed with me throughout my journey here. I hope I was able to bring you that kind of happiness when you saw me winning today,” Sandhu added.
"Chak de phatte" is a phrase of encouragement in Punjabi which loosely means "keep it up!"
Sandhu also expressed her thanks to the Miss India Organization and the Miss Diva Organization for “standing by me, supporting me and being my driving force to win the crown.”
The beauty queen also thanked the Miss Universe Organization for “believing I deserved the responsibility of being called Miss Universe.”
Sandhu bested 79 other candidates and was crowned as Miss Universe 2021 in Eliat, Israel.
