LOOK: Celebrities serve eerie yet stunning looks at Shake, Rattle, and Ball 2023
Halloween is the best time to channel whoever you want to be.
Host and eventologist Tim Yap gathered various celebrities and personalities for his annual Halloween Ball. This year, he took inspiration from a classic Filipino horror film and dubbed the event Shake, Rattle, and Ball: The Alamat Exhibition Gala. He co-hosted it with actress Andrea Brillantes.
Held on Monday, Oct. 30 at the National Museum of Anthropology, local stars graced the thrilling affair in their ethereal yet eerie-looking costumes while some channeled familiar figures in Pinoy pop culture.
Here are the ones that stood out in their chosen Halloween ensembles.
Tim Yap
The host made sure to go all out when he dressed up as the iconic aswang role of the late Lilia Cuntapay—the Queen of Philippine horror films. In an interview with a media outlet, the local personality shared that it was his way of paying tribute to the iconic actress.
Andrea Brillantes
The event’s co-host, Andrea Brillantes, donned her own version of a Filipino folklore character named Amalia—a half-engkanto and a half-manananggal creature. According to the actress-entrepreneur, Amalia has a heart-wrenching backstory of losing her beloved who left her for her human rival in love.
Belle Mariano and Donny Pangilinan
DonBelle looked mighty as they channeled two iconic Filipino superheroes—Darna and Captain Barbell. Belle Mariano donned a bedazzled Darna suit with its iconic gold headpiece. Donny Pangilinan, meanwhile, looked sharp in his shiny Captain Barbell costume, complete with an iconic gold barbell.
Coleen Garcia-Crawford
Coleen Garcia-Crawford was an absolute head-turner in her fiery red ensemble. She completed it with a voluminous burgundy ponytail with grungy blue eye makeup that elevated her overall look.
Janeena Chan
Host and GMA Sparkle artist Janeena Chan dressed up as Ibong Adarna, an iconic creature in Philippine folktale. She donned a bedazzled indigo ensemble from Ushisato with blush pink, fuchsia, and royal blue feather adornments in the bodice and her headpiece.
Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo
Known for her eye-catching looks, be it in the cosplay world or her own wedding, Alodia Gosiengfiao looked ethereal in her custom-made Mara Chua dress that resembles an ocean wave. Completing the Sirena-inspired look was a fish fin earpiece that she made on her own.
Rhian Ramos and Sam Verzosa
Actress Rhian Ramos slayed her look as Alexandra Trese with her beau, businessman Sam Verzosa who dressed up as one of the "kambals" who served as Trese’s protectors in the animated series.
Onie De Guzman and Criza Taa
Dream Maker alum and model Onie de Guzman and actress Criza Taa showed their refreshing take on Philippine sea mythology.
Onie rocked a Berberoka-inspired ensemble—a swamp creature believed to lure victims by drowning and then eating them—styled by Miguel Quilang. Criza, meanwhile, channeled Aman Sinaya, a sea goddess and a protector of fishermen.
Rei Germar
Content creator Rei Germar took inspiration from Oryol—a demigoddess popular in the Bicolano myth. She arrived in an all-gold ensemble styled by Lyn Alumno, mimicking the enchanting beauty of the half-snake, half-human demigoddess.
M1ss Jade So
Filipina drag queen M1ss Jade So surely did not come to play as she graced the event looking eerily stunning in one of Ehrran Montoya’s “Chrysalis” creations. Her look, which she named “Goddessa,” is under Dolltology—her own take on Philippine mythology. Her stunning look earned her the "Face of the Night" award.
Michelline Syjuco
Internationally acclaimed designer Michelline Syjuco not only perfected but took her Valentina look to another level—from her villain-looking face makeup and intricately made snake headdress that resembles Valentina’s venomous snake hair to the gold adornments on the bodice and exaggerated neck choker. She also carried with her an eerie-looking snake-human baby and a large scepter with a snake head to complete her Serpent queen look.
