Coleen Garcia, Kryz Uy say 'mom style' is all about looking comfortable and fashionable

Moms are incredibly busy juggling work, home life, and everything in between, and yet they make it look effortless. They may not say it, but it can be a challenge for moms sometimes—even when dressing up.

Many moms believe that they have to forget about being stylish and that it's always easy to rely on their usual mommy wardrobes. Sounds true? Filipina content creator Kryz Uy and actress Coleen Garcia, who are both moms, think otherwise. They are the latest collaborators of Singaporean brand Love, Bonito for its newest collection #LBCityscape and they prove that mothers can still wear stylish and functional clothes even when they're running around after their kids.

Talking about her fashion idols, Coleen shared with PhilSTAR L!fe how her grandma, Syra Garcia influenced her life in a "big way" in terms of style and fitness.

"I only started appreciating fitness because of her, she's the first person who started bringing me to the gym, boxing, and everything," she said.

When it comes to clothes, Coleen said she prefers styles that are feminine but always comfortable.

"I think I got it from her. Kailangan palaging relax[ed], kailangan palaging comfortable," she said while noting that her 70-year-old fit and fabulous grandmother is not a "girly girl" type in terms of fashion.

"Yeah she wears makeup, [and] she wears whatever she feels empowered, but she's no girly girl," Coleen said. "The only difference is I still do have the feminine side, I am still in touch with my feminine side.

"I think my love for pants, shorts, and everything came from her talaga. Mas pipiliin kong magblazer kaysa mag dress," she explained. 

Moreover, as a mother to 2-year-old Amari, Coleen shared the importance of wearing clothes that are suited to the changing and fast-paced lives of moms.

"I know that our bodies have changed so much and it all boils down to you making yourself comfortable and confident. Those two things are what matter to me the most. You have to be confident but you have to be comfortable, so wear whatever empowers you and don't feel limited," she said.

"It doesn't matter how it looks, what matters is that you are confident and you're comfortable. It all boils down to how you feel, 'cause whatever you wear if you don't feel it, it's gonna show," she added.
