LIST: The most outrageous looks at the 2024 Met Gala
Some of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry came together for the 2024 Met Gala on Tuesday, May 7 (Philippine time).
This year's edition had the theme "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" and dress code dubbed "The Garden of Time," which was inspired by a J.G. Ballard short story of the same name.
While some opted for simple but beautiful ensembles, others decided to go all out in their own ways for their Met Gala look this year. Here are some outfits that caught our eye.
Jordan Roth
Yay or nay? American theater producer Jordan Roth turned heads in his custom couture Valentino outfit featuring a head-to-toe floral look. He finished it off with pink gloves and vibrant eye makeup.
Rita Ora
British singer-songwriter Rita Ora rocked a nude illusion for the 2024 Met Gala. The For You singer opted for beads appearring to flow like a waterfall on top of a nude bodysuit. She paired her outfit with bright eye makeup and a wet hair look.
Emma Chamberlain
Emma Chamberlain, an American media personality and YouTuber, was a sight to behold as she interviewed some Met Gala 2024 guests for Vogue. She rocked a custom Gaultier outfit, elevated with a lace corset from the Spring 2003 couture show. Tying her look altogether was her eyeshadow and lippie in brown.
Zendaya
How stunning! American actress and singer Zendaya wore a one-shoulder gown in royal blue and emerald green at this year's affair, accentuated with grape vines across the bodice. She amped it up with a feather fascinator and goth makeup.
Lana del Rey
Lana Del Rey slayed the Met Gala 2024 carpet in an Alexander McQueen gown adorned with dark brown branches and capped with a mesh headdress. She also held a red rose for an elegant touch.
Doja Cat
Doja Cat has long been known for showing up in bizarre looks in different events, and the 2024 Met Gala is no exception.
The 28-year-old American rapper and singer became a hot topic on social media when she left her hotel wearing only hair and body towels before heading to the social gathering.
When she arrived on the carpet, Doja showed up in an oversized wet shirt dress. Making her look more striking were her smokey eye makeup and chrome tears.
Gigi Hadid
Supermodel Gigi Hadid stunned in a Thom Browne creation—a white off-shoulder corset gown with accentuated hips, which she wore under a white silk coat with three-dimensional yellow flowers. According to Vogue, the entire look took a team of more than 70 people who made it entirely by hand for over 13,500 hours. This is equivalent to more than 562 days.
Demi Moore
The 61-year-old American actress sported a structural gown by Harris Reed as she marked her first Met Gala in five years. Her black column outfit has a pink-and-white floral design, which she matched with a backdress with a spiky heart-shaped structural element for an extra oomph.
Lizzo
Lizzo walked the runway in Paris-based label Weinsanto's skin-toned corseted gown. Making her a head-turner was a covered-up headpiece depicting the image of a flower, inspired by a botanical garden.
