#LifeLokal: Twill Cavern, inexpensive but decent quality everyday wear for every Filipina
Shopping may not be on our priority list these days given that everything is getting more and more expensive, but that doesn't mean you need to skimp on buying clothes. You just need to make sure you get the most of your money and find stores that will check all your needs: style, quality, and affordability. One trusted local store that ticks all those is Twill Cavern.
Twill Cavern is a homegrown brand that sells inexpensive comfortable everyday wear but decent in quality. They aim to make every Filipina feel beautiful and confident one clothing at a time.
The brand started as a dream. It's owner, Leanne Valle, grew up in Rizal, the garment capital of the Philippines. And ever since she was a kid, Leanne has been exposed to the clothing industry, coming from three generations of garment manufacturers.
"I grew up in this industry, often taking on summer jobs at our factory, or tagging along on work trips. At an early age, I knew I wanted to follow suit," she told PhilSTAR L!fe.
Leanne bravely juggled her studies as a business undergraduate at the De La Salle University and took up short courses in fashion in different institutions. She took the leap of faith in starting her own business after attending her first bazaar right after graduating. Hence, the birth of Twill Tavern.
In the interview below, Leanne shares more about her brand and how she continues to grow in the industry she’s been part of since her childhood.
How does your Filipino heritage/culture influence your brand values and identity?
It has definitely got to be the fact that I grew up in Taytay Rizal, more popularly known as the garments capital of the Philippines, and having worked alongside our local seamstresses ever since I was young. With that, Twill Cavern takes pride in its locally designed and crafted quality pieces.
There are so many competitive brands within the world of fashion right now, how do you make your brand stand out from the rest?
All our pieces are designed in-house, and are made by loving seamstresses in Rizal. When sourcing fabrics, I am very particular with the quality. However, I still try to maintain affordable price points because I believe a good fashion piece doesn't have to be expensive. Aside from this, in every design that I make, I always have body inclusivity in mind which is why we have extended our size offerings, and we hope to add more in the near future.
From your own experience, how has social media helped your brand?
Social media has definitely shaped the brand. It is a venue for us to connect with our customers — where we exchange stories, hear feedbacks, and where we tune in on what our customers want to see from our brand next. With social media, we're able to continuously build and grow relationships with them, which the brand holds dear.
How do you want your customers to feel when they're wearing your products?
I want them to feel beautiful, confident, and carefree — almost as if they're on an endless summer vacation.
