Cause of death revealed for employee who was found dead at her desk four days later
The cause of death of the woman who was found dead in her cubicle four days after she clocked in for work has been revealed.
Citing the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner, PEOPLE Magazine reported that the bank employee named Denise Prudhomme died of "sudden cardiac death in the setting of myocardial fibrosis."
According to the National Institutes of Health, sudden cardiac death is defined as "death presumed to be of a cardiac cause that occurs within one hour of the onset of cardiac symptoms or 24 hours of last being seen healthy and alive." Myocardial fibrosis, meanwhile, is a condition that "causes scar tissue to build up in your heart," per Healthline.
Prudhomme, who worked at financial services company Wells Fargo in Arizona, scanned into the building on Aug. 16 and was found lifeless at her desk on Aug. 20.
Wells Fargo said her work area was located in an underpopulated part of the establishment, so it took a while for others to notice she was dead.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, Denise Prudhomme," the company said in a statement. "Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones, and we are in contact to ensure they are well supported during this difficult time."
Employees who have been affected by what happened are provided counseling.
"We are committed to the safety and wellness of our workforce," a spokesperson for Wells Fargo said.
