A live-action version of Disney's 'Tangled' is in the works—reports

Rapunzel and Flynn are taking their adventure to new lengths as the well-loved 2010 animated film Tangled is getting a live-action remake. 

According to reports, Michael Gracey, known for helming the 2017 musical film The Greatest Showman, is in talks to direct the live-action remake about the long-haired princess. 

Meanwhile, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, writer of Do Revenge and Thor: Love and Thunder, reportedly wrote the script.

As per Deadline, the plot details of the live-action remake are under wraps, but the film is "expected to follow the lines of the animated version." 

There is no word yet for other details such as casting. 

Tangled is a 2010 American animated musical film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

The film, directed by Nathan Greno, follows the story of Rapunzel, a lost young long-haired princess (voiced by Mandy Moore) who is eventually rescued from her secluded tower by an intruder named Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi) away from her evil foster mother, Gothel (voiced by Donna Murphy). 

The film was hailed the eighth-highest-grossing film of 2010 after it earned $592 million, or more than P34 billion, in worldwide box office revenue. 

It also bag numerous nominations for several awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, Disney also announced some of the classic Disney films that will be getting a live-action version last month. These include Mufasa: The Lion King, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Lilo & Stitch
