From travel buddies to ex-lovers: A timeline of Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque's romance
After rumors of a breakup hounded their relationship, it's been confirmed that Bea Alonzo and Dominic Roque are no more.
Boy Abunda put some truth into the issue during his talk show Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, but did not disclose the exact reason for their split.
"Ako’y nalungkot talaga dahil madalas kapag nagkikita kami ni Bea ay nagkakakwentuhan kami tungkol sa buhay, tungkol sa kanila, their marriage plans, etcetera. So, I was shocked," Abunda said.
It was indeed a sad development that many did not see coming, especially since Alonzo and Roque are preparing to officially become husband and wife sometime this year.
The pair first sparked dating speculations in 2019, and after becoming official, they have since shared a few sweet moments together that sent their fans swooning. Let's look back at Alonzo and Roque's relationship through the years.
2019: Taking pictures together
Rumors of their romance started flooding in when Roque posted a throwback picture with the actress that was taken in 2019. At first glance, one would assume that it was just them having a nice friendly dinner with each other, but Roque's caption sent a different message to the public as he wrote, "Tila ako'y nabighani..."
Back then, the pair met up in Tokyo, Japan in October, and it was actually a spontaneous trip for the both of them. After bonding over dinner until 6:00 am, it was at that moment that Alonzo started to see Roque in a more romantic light.
July 2021: Being travel buddies
After revealing to Mega Magazine that they were at the dating stage, Alonzo spent more time getting to know Roque as they went on a camping trip together at Yosemite National Park in the US in July 2021.
They went on a dreamy California trip where they visited some famous places like Malibu, Napa Valley, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Monterey.
August 2021: It's official!
Alonzo and Roque finally put a label on their relationship as they confirmed their romance with Nelson Canlas in an interview for 24 Oras.
"It’s not like I was trying to hide it. I think I was trying to be careful kasi given my past experience, gusto kong masiguro muna kung saan sya pupunta bago gawing official," Alonzo said.
"We only live once and happiness is best when shared. I want to share my happiness," she added.
The local star concluded that given her past experience, she was just being careful and was afraid to make mistakes "in front of the public."
"Even sa mga past relationships ko, hindi naman ako super open about it. I think yung most treasured moments sa isang relationship ay yung mga hindi na-she-share sa social media. And I want to keep it that way," she remarked.
January 2022: First anniversary as a couple
After 12 months of being a sweet couple, Alonzo and Roque celebrated their first anniversary on Jan. 28, 2022.
“It took so much patience from you, but here we are,” Alonzo wrote in an Instagram post, sharing a photo of themselves locked in an embrace. “I have to say, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.”
For his part, Roque posted a quick slideshow of him and the actress with the same view of nature in the background. “Hey Hun… Happy Anniversary… I love you,” he captioned the clip.
April 2022: More in love than ever
Alonzo and Roque's love for each other grew to the point that the actress revealed that she would gladly say yes if Roque decided to pop the question and put a ring on it.
"I can’t speak for him, and alam naman niya na marami rin akong gagawin. Alam naman niya kung ano yung mga priorities ko sa ngayon," she said in an interview on GMA, "pero kung sakaling mag-propose siya, syempre, o-oo ako."
July 2023: Kneeling down on one knee
After a year, Roque finally decided to get down on one knee and propose to his girlfriend during one of her photoshoots.
Recalling the moment, Alonzo wrote, "It was a balmy afternoon in Las Casas. I was there for a shoot, but little did I know that the next thing that would happen would change our lives forever."
She continued, "In the middle of the shoot, [my photographer] Mark Nicdao kept telling me to turn around because he wanted to shoot the back side of my dress, I found it a bit odd, but when I turned around, I found Dom kneeling with a box in his hand."
Alonzo highlighted how "time stood still" at that moment and that she felt "different emotions all at the same time—joy, excitement, love."
"I want this real thing to happen forever… and right then there… In front of the people we love… we decided on forever.. " she wrote.
February 2024: Wedding plans
As 2024 came around, Alonzo was asked for an update about her wedding plans with Roque during the launch of OPPO's Reno11 Series 5G.
However, she told the media, "Wala pa, wala pa. Sorry, wala pa."
Bea was also asked about their guest list for their big day. "Alam mo, wala pa talaga so I can't tell you anything just yet," she answered.
According to the actress, she and her fiance both have hectic schedules at the moment. "I mean, we’re getting there but also, we're very busy. I’m about to start a teleserye and then mayroon pang ibang projects that I can’t tell you just yet which will happen also this year," she said.
February 2024: Romance no more
Just days after Alonzo's update on the wedding amid the breakup rumors, their separation was confirmed by Abunda, who noted that the two are "trying to understand each other, but they're going through a rough patch."
"Kung tama ang aking source, si Bea ay isinauli na ang kanyang engagement ring, but are they hoping? Ako ang hula ko is yes, kasi you don't say 'Tomorrow, I'm going to stop loving,'" Abunda said, adding that they have called off the wedding.
On whether Roque is still striving to woo Alonzo to save their relationship and wedding, the television host said, "Sino ba naman ang ayaw maayos ang ganitong klaseng problema. As a matter of fact, from good sources, kagabi o nung isang gabi lamang, nag-usap muli si Bea atsaka si Dominic."
According to his sources, even if the pair does manage to save their relationship, no wedding will happen this year.
The breakup issue was first brought to light by talent manager Ogie Diaz in his vlog, where he discussed how multiple sources had told him that Alonzo and Roque were not talking.
