Ivana Alawi opened up about a near-death experience due to an ovary complication that filled her stomach and lungs with fluids.

On her YouTube vlog, Alawi gave her followers an update regarding why she was hospitalized a few weeks back, describing it as the most difficult journey that she has ever experienced to the point that it nearly proved fatal for her.

"Sa lahat ng dinanas ko sa buhay, isa ito sa pinakamatindi na pain. Feeling ko nagpaalam pa nga ako sa mama ko, feeling ko talaga it's really my second life," the content creator said.

"I-share ko lang din sa inyo na meron akong problem sa ovaries and that's how it started and I also have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome)," she added.

According to World Health Organization, PCOS is a problem with hormones where you may not have periods very often or may have periods that last many days. Some complications it may incur include infertility, diabetes, depression, and eating disorders, among others.

She then urged her followers to get themselves checked if they feel that something is wrong with their bodies, noting, "Siguro kung hindi ako pumunta ng ospital, feeling ko wala na talaga ako. Nagpapunta na lang ako sa ospital nung hindi ko na kaya."

Describing what happened to her, the YouTuber recounted, "I got fluid in my stomach na sobrang napuno na siya. Day by day, habang nasa ospital ako, umaangat 'yung fluid sa tiyan ko."

It got to a point where she looked "five months pregnant."

"Tapos nung padulo na, parang patigas na siya nang patigas, tapos ang laki. Tapos 'yung sakit, hindi na ako makahinga. Kaunting lakad ko lang, parang hihimatayin ako, nanlalamig na 'yung buong body ko tapos tumitirik daw 'yung eyes ko," Ivana said.

Once she was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher, doctors found the fluid in her stomach and started injecting her with painkillers.

"Nagpanic 'yung mga doctors kasi parang humihina na 'yung pulse so nag-inject ng IV and all, and they kept saying 'Wag kang pipikit,'" Ivana recalled.

"'Yung last time na parang sabi ko hindi ko na kayang huminga, feeling ko kada hinga ko para akong nalulunod. I felt like the liquid was already getting into my lungs. Tapos parang sabi ko, 'Butasan niyo na ako,'" she said.

Doctors put a drain in her stomach to flush the liquids out, which had already accumulated to two liters.

"Habang tinanggal 'yung tubig, on the spot napangiti talaga ako kasi parang nakahinga na ako nang kaunti," the former Batang Quiapo star recalled.

Despite this, she admitted that she wasn't scared of what was happening to her. Instead, her mind was more focused on her family's future.

"Hindi ko nga inisip 'yung paano 'yung savings ko, paano 'yung mga properties. It was more of paano 'yung family ko," she said.

Now on her way to recovery, Ivana expressed her gratitude to her followers for sending her well wishes during her ordeal.

"Ngayon, I'm still recovering, hindi pa 100% okay. And gusto ko ding mag-thank you sa lahat ng work ko na pumayag na mag-reschedule and also, sa lahat ng nag-message at nag-pray for me. Thank you so much, guys," she emphasized.

Last Oct. 24, Ivana on Instagram stories, shared a photo of herself lying on a hospital bed, saying that she "had to be rushed back to the hospital since my body didn’t recover well." She did not disclose her condition.
